The Vanderbilt Commodores are going through tough times currently. After starting the season with a 4-2 record, the Commodores have now lost five games in a row. Their last loss came against Arkansas, and that has left coach Jerry Stackhouse agitated.
Following the loss, many fans have criticized the former NBA All-Star, but he is not taking it well. Barstool Sports revealed Stackhouse has been messaging these criticizing fans and has branded them “fake a** fans” in their conversations. He talked about how he is going to stay put and not leave, and that “real fans” would support the team no matter what.
While two of their last five defeats were close, the others were 20+ point blowout losses. There is some quality in the team, led by Scotty Pippen Jr, but they have been disappointing lately, and have been unable to get out of their slump.

Jerry Stackhouse unhappy with the Vanderbilt Commodores
While Stackhouse has made it clear he wants to stay, there is no guarantee about which players continue to stay on the team now. Following the loss against Arkansas, Stackhouse called out his players publicly.
“We’ve got to find some guys who want to play basketball,” he said. “Right now, we got some guys that don’t want to play no damn basketball. We’ve got guys who’ve been here four or five years and played 20 minutes and got one offensive rebound and one defensive rebound. We can’t win any games like that.”
“We’re just doing dumb stuff. I haven’t had any teams before where I tell them the same thing over and over again, and then they come out and do the same dumb shit.”

The Commodores are yet to win a game in the SEC Conference and currently sit at the bottom. This is the second season they have been struggling under him, after finishing 11-21 in 2019-20. That puts his overall record at a miserable 15-28, which is one of the worst in NCAA basketball.

Fans will be eagerly waiting to see which players feature now and what tactics the team will use. They now have 10 games left in the season, and Stackhouse will aim to make the most out of it. Another poor season endangers his job security, so he needs the results to keep his place.
