Angel Reese has become one of the year’s most well-known and recognizable athletes in the world of college basketball. However, with her sudden rise to fame, she has had to deal with the difficulties of handling criticism and avoiding those who try to downplay her achievements.

“For me, you take the good with the bad,” she told Revolt.tv, “I get a lot of positives, so I understand there will be negative and if you’re not getting hate, you’re not doing something right. People will always have something to say and it’s normal in the world. They can’t change anything I do or my perspective of things, as I’m going to stand on what I say. That’s just how I move with things.”

And recently, Angel Reese found herself resonating with Deion Sanders’ words.

“I don’t care. Look at me,” Sanders said, “What about me would make you think that I care about your opinion of me? Your opinion of me is not the opinion that I have of myself. You ain’t make me, so you can’t break me. You didn’t build me, so you can’t kill me.”

He continued, “You know what, God established me, so there’s nothing you can do to me.”

Angel Reese receives warm support at LSU

Following the LSU Women’s Basketball team winning the national championship, Angel Reese took some time to thank her teammates for their unwavering support and camaraderie, praising LSU head coach Kim Mulkey in particular.

“Our team is predominantly black. We have two white girls on our team, but they support us in everything that we do. They’ve always had our back in everything, I never have to worry about Coach Kim – she gets crazy,” Reese revealed on the podcast, I AM ATHLETE. Notably, Coach Kim has also coached Brittney Griner.

She continued, “She’s hip to what we’ve got going on. So, she kind of has to accept the fact that we are who we are, and I think that she embraces that. She loves us for who we are.”
