LSU star Angel Reese led her team to a national title against the Iowa Hawkeyes with an 85-102 win. She once again played a huge part in the win with a double-double. For her dominant performances throughout the NCAA tournament, she was named the Most Outstanding Player. Despite her impressive displays, it was her actions in the title game that received the majority of the spotlight. In the Finals against the Hawkeyes, Reese engaged in some trash-talking with opposition player Caitlin Clark followed by some suggestive gestures, which were criticized by many. Now, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey has revealed her thoughts on it.
Reese received a huge backlash for her actions against Clark. On the other hand, many showed support for the star, including NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. The four-time NBA champion was not happy with the criticism directed towards the young star.

Kim Mulkey has been the head coach of LSU since 2021 and has been a huge reason behind the team’s success. She helped the LSU women’s team to clinch their first-ever NCAA title. After the win, Mulkey recently sat down for an an interview with Today, where she talked about Angel Reese amidst the trash-talking controversy.
One host talked about the image of Reese making the “You can’t see me” sign to Caitlin Clark has over eight million views. He also pointed out Reese’s post-game press conference and asked for Mulkey’s take. The head coach admitted that she does not even know what the sign means.
She noted that Reece was doing the same sign Clark did against her opponents. The head coach then said that Reece was not happy that she was criticized for her action while Clark was not, despite doing the same thing. She added, “That child is a beast on the board for rebounding. That child just won a national championship. She is not afraid of social media and that who Angel is. She trash talks on the court but she does not cross the line of vulgarity.”

The two-time NCAA champion also said that the guard is not going to apologize for her actions because that is who she is. Incidentally, Reese had called out the media hypocrisy regarding perpetrating a certain narrative about her, trying to portray her as ‘hood’. The young star has shown that she is quite unfazed by all the hate on social media.

Shaquille O’Neal showed his support
As video clips of Angel Reese talking trash to Caitlin Clark was shared on social media, many criticized her, including sports commentator Keith Olbermann. Shaquille O’Neal was not impressed with his choice of words and slammed him in his reply. Notably, the Los Angeles Lakers legend is an LSU alumnus.
