It is safe to say the 2023 March Madness lived up to its expectations and more. Both the men’s and women’s tournaments were exhilarating and had the fans on the edge of their seats. While the Connecticut Huskies clinched the men’s title, the LSU Tigers won the women’s tournament. Despite the masterful performance of Caitlin Clark throughout the tournament setting multiple records, she could not lead the Iowa Hawkeyes to their first-ever title. However, a former college coach recently made a shocking claim regarding NCAA Men’s and Women’s basketball, while showering praises on Clark.

Jim Boeheim was the head coach of the Syracuse Orange for a colossal 47 years. The legendary coach heaped praise on Clark for her impressive performances during the tournament. Furthermore, he also compared the attraction of the women’s NCAA tournament with the men’s.

In one instance, Patrick talked about the brackets for this year’s tournament. The head coach noted that this year has been really wild because there were no favorites and there was a good balance. He added that there was no #1 team in the Finals of both tournaments and there was an equal platform for every team.

While he was not sure whether that was good, he was sure about one thing: the excitement around women’s basketball. Boeheim claimed, “It might be a good thing but I know one thing, I’d rather watch the women’s teams play than the men’s right now

“Watching Caitlin Clark from Iowa… I think that was probably the most exciting player that I’ve seen in the Final Four in either tournaments in a long time. What an impressive player!”

That is definitely major praise for Caitlin Clark coming from the Hall of Famer, who has been coaching college athletes for a mindboggling 50 years. Patrick then said that it is rare to see someone who is a good scorer like Clark, who can also pass the ball so well. Boeheim agreed with the notion.

In the Semi-Final against the Gamecocks, Clark erupted for a historic 41 points to lead her team to a 77-73 win. Her 41 points were the most in the Final Four. She also became the first player to record a 40-point triple-double in the Elite Eight.
