Darrell K. Royal-Memorial Stadium was a blazing fire this Saturday when Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs and the Longhorns were butting heads with each other for a crucial week 8 win. Although the Longhorns have been on the dull side, everything was still going at ease unless and until the referee raised a flag negating an interception from Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron just three minutes before the clock ticked. It remains the cynosure of the match-up, especially for the cracking 15-30 loss of Sarkisian’s squad. Even after the scoreboard dismissed it in the review, the only question that kept resonating throughout the ground and beyond was: pass interference or no pass interference?
As soon as officials turned down the Longhorns’ effort to score a game-saving touchdown, filling for their 23-0 deficit, fans went into a frenzy and started throwing debris to the ground. Instead of calming down the chaos, they shrugged the call off. But the former legendary tight end, Shannon Sharpe, on his podcast, couldn’t yet find out why it had to hit in the first place. The football phonetic doesn’t believe ‘the original call was right.”

”I don’t believe it was a defensive pass interference or contact or whatever the terminology or phrase you want to use. I don’t believe Georgia, and I don’t believe the Texas cornerback hindered it. I thought the offense tried to disengage by shoving him right, but the ball was so poorly thrown it was outside, and it hit the DB right in the chest, so he had no choice but to catch it,” said Sharpe, venting out his frustration with the clearly distorted decision.
If you look closely, the crux of the controversy lies in the fact that Arian Smith was the one who initiated contact with Barron. So, the call doesn’t make any sense even if it gives a heck of rejoicing glee to Kirby Smart for a moment. However, the Longhorns remained on the back foot at the end regardless, but Smart didn’t seem to get over the reversed call.

Did the officials rob Texas of a fair chance with that questionable pass interference call?
Have an interesting take?
Georgia Bulldogs lived up to their Week 1 No. 1 ranking, no matter what. Yes, we had seven weeks of football before this game, and the Bulldogs had slipped to No. 5 in the meantime, but Kirby Smart’s boys played the game like a top side in the NCAA.
Surpassing the glaring challenge of Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, a dynamic Bulldogs’ defense forced four Texas turnovers and recorded seven sacks. The glory, however, equally reaches out to the phenomenal head coach Kirby Smart, who earned the badge of the fastest one to win 100 games in his eventful 9th year.
But that doesn’t seem to appease the veteran’s growing resentment of the officials who didn’t let them hand a more tragic defeat to the opponent by canceling out an interference call. During a postgame interview with ESPN, Nick Saban’s faithful exclaimed how the whole broadcasting network, the whole community worked against their odds, trying to rob them with a call. He sings praise to his boys for a resilient comeback nonetheless.

On the flip side, Sarkisian ain’t ready to accept that this was an end to their SEC battle, even if it can be worth a pity party to the highest, and we are eager to see ‘a lot of football to be played.’
