The decision to keep JuJu Watkins in the starting five has worked wonders for Lindsay Gottlieb this season. The 2024 USBWA National Freshman of the Year gave the Trojans national recognition by architecting their first Elite Eight appearance in almost 30 years. However, with the WNBA draft fever still in the air, it will be interesting to note which of the current lot of women ballers can perfectly complement USC’s golden goose.
On the recent episode of Podcast P with Paul George, the 6 ft 2 in guard was having a conversation with the No.13 of the LA Clippers. During one of the segments, both these athletes were required to present a roster built around Watkins. Juju went ahead and picked Chelsea Gray as her team’s point guard. To this, George decided to go with another Aces star, Kelsey Plum.
Skipping temporarily on choosing a small forward, Watkins then went with Satou Sabally as her power forward. Subsequently, the nine-time NBA All-Star was backing Alyssa Thomas as his power forward.

Then, without wasting any more time, the 18-year-old disclosed that the 2023 WNBA Finals MVP A’ja Wilson would be a perfect center around her. To no one’s surprise, Paul had Wilson’s adversary, Breanna Stewart, in mind. Circling back to their small forward picks, both capped it off with two more skillful pro ballers. While it was Seattle’s Jewell Loyd for JuJu, George countered it with the Aces’ No. 0 Jackie Young.

JuJu Watkins attracts Vegas’ eyes
Soon after this episode went on the air, it garnered the attention of two Aces teammates. Initially, it was the two-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson who expressed her elation on Instagram. She posted a story featuring the post with a heart-hand emoji and tagged JuJu Watkins as well. In addition to this, the 5 ft 8 Aces point guard Kelsey Plum posted a comment which read, “Naaaaa we got it.” suggesting that she liked the PG13 group better.
There is no denying that both these teams comprise an elite list of ballers. Both these starting line-ups have the potential to wreak havoc on any opposition. We will have to wait and see if any of these two dream teams can become a reality in the future.
