“Basketball runs in the family,” Angel Reese had admitted, and well, it certainly is showing and how. Following a historical rookie season in the WNBA and a debut with a double-double in the Unrivaled for the Chi-Town Barbie, the Reese family now witnesses the continued excellence in the youngest member of the family — Julian. Angel’s younger brother is putting on a show for the Maryland Terrapins and she is all here for it.

“Somebody hoopin rn,” the Chicago Sky star shared on X, highlighting her brother’s impressive season. Especially tonight as the Terrapins took on Illinois for a 2nd straight win and Reese came out the highest scorer of the night with 27 points. He then posted 17 rebounds and 3 blocks, shooting 12-of-23 from the field. It was a career-high performance from the Maryland-native, helping his team secure a dominant 91-70 victory for a 15-5 overall.

Looks like his sister’s prediction worked its magic.

Back in October 2024, while recovering from a season-ending injury, she confidently tweeted, “My brother is going to have a great year. I’m calling it now. @Reese10Julian.” It was a bold one, but Angel’s unwavering faith in Julian is now being validated. Not just tonight, but Julian’s performance this season has been nothing short of stellar, with averages of 12.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and a 57.3% field goal percentage.

As Angel’s bold prediction continues to unfold, Julian’s standout performances are proving her faith in him was more than just words—it’s a glimpse of the potential that’s now taking center stage.

But Julian’s standout performances aren’t just isolated moments. In a nail-biting overtime loss to Northwestern on January 17, he exploded for 23 points, showcasing his scoring versatility. Just two days later, against Nebraska, he dominated defensively, hauling in 10 rebounds and blocking four shots to help Maryland secure a narrow 69-66 win.

Julian’s growth from last season is clear. While his 2023-24 averages of 13.7 points and 9.5 rebounds were impressive, his increased efficiency this season—57.3% shooting and 71% from the free-throw line—highlights his progress.

Meanwhile, Angel continues to shine off the court, even while giving her best on the Unrivaled’s fresh hardwood. On the opening night of the inaugural season, Reese put up 10 points and 14 rebounds in 13 minutes for a double-double. Though Rose BC is yet to secure a win, Reese is faring well.

The Chi-Town Barbie’s mother, grandmother, and father, all played basketball, she has admitted. And growing up in Baltimore, sports was just around. “I used to go to my mom’s games when I was younger. She used to play in a little league, and I used to always go watch her games on Sundays. That was something that was always inspiring to me,” Reese has said. With Julian’s dominant performance against Illinois and Angel continuing to make waves in the world of women’s basketball, it’s clear that the Reese legacy is only just beginning to unfold.
