A’ja Wilson finally got her long-overdue signature shoe. It’s been a journey, but well, the wait is officially over. Back in May 2024, she dropped the bomb that her signature Nike collection was in the works. Then, just a month later, she teased us with her fresh new logo. And now, in February 2025, she finally unveiled her first-ever signature sneaker, the Nike A’One, at none other than her home—South Carolina. And speaking of SC, it’s not just the place but people for the baller. One of them is her ex-coach and forever hype woman, Dawn Staley.

And Gamecocks coach was all over it, posting her excitement on Twitter with, “Follow up to my @_ajawilson22 A’Ones: it’s the detail for me!” But you know, Staley had plenty to show off—though she ran into a bit of a hiccup.

“And I don’t think I got all of them but here we go! I need more pix space for these details!” she added. Basically, there was just too much to capture in one go, and she was struggling to fit it all in. And well, she wasn’t lying.

The details? Insane.

Wilson made sure her A’One wasn’t just another basketball shoe. She called it a “versatile” low-top that would be “comfortable and durable for 40 minutes,” and Nike delivered. They packed it with Cushlon ST2 foam for extra cushioning, a traction pattern designed for sharp cuts and pivots, and breathable mesh uppers to keep things cool.

But let’s talk about the personal touches because the 3x WNBA MVP  made sure this sneaker told her story. First up, the pearls—her grandma, Hattie Rakes, always wore them, and now, they’re woven into the shoe’s design.

What’s your perspective on:

Does A'ja Wilson's signature shoe mark a new era for female athletes in sports branding?

Have an interesting take?

Then, there’s the outsole, which features a quote straight from the LV Aces star’s book: “As a matter of fact, the best is yet to come.” And obviously, she had to honor her parents. The Celtic symbols for ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ are right there, and the tongue features her signature logo with a star inside the “A.”

And for that extra edge? One of her postgame mic-drop moments—“Weakness, weakness. We don’t have time for that”—is stamped on the heel. Iconic.

And you know what’s even more iconic? The extra sneak peek the coach gave us into the shoe.

Dawn Staley drops another hint about A’ja Wilson’s rumored romance

Well, Dawn Staley just couldn’t help herself—again. She shared another picture of Wilson’s A’One sneakers, and this time, it had an interesting little detail. Inside the lining was a ‘B’ stamped right next to the logo.

Staley, being Staley, took to Twitter and wrote, “@_ajawilson22 just told me about this hidden jewel…..inside lining with the A’One logo and swoosh…..and the B is for Black Label and/or not the character on the Flintstones. If you’re old enough to get that you’re pretty darn good! 🤭🤭🤭”

Now, we know for a fact who she was hinting at—Bam Adebayo, Wilson’s long-rumored boyfriend. Sure, neither have straight up taken the name. The closer we got was the Aces star thanking her favorite Olympian during her jersey retirement while he sat next to her parents; we can call it near confirmed now. Though the courtside appearances and the constant social media shoutouts for each other’s milestones, deserved the tag early.

If that’s not soft-launching a relationship, we don’t know what is.

And Bam didn’t just support Wilson from the stands; he also hit the court in her sneakers. Before the Miami Heat’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, Adebayo laced up a pair of A’Ones. Sneaker insider Nick DePaula of Boardroom was the first to share the images, writing, “Bam Adebayo laces up the Nike A’One — @_AjaWilson22’s first signature shoe.”

So, yes, we’re definitely picking up what they’re putting down. Dawn Staley has been playfully teasing this for a while now, and at this point, it’s only a matter of time before Wilson and Adebayo make it official.
