Bryce James’ bombshell announcement has captured the headlines. Committing to the University of Arizona after also receiving offers from Ohio State and Duquesne, LeBron James’ younger son is set to be a member of the 2025 Wildcats class. A four-star prospect, the Sierra Canyon High School senior is following in his family’s footsteps to the pro basketball world. But how does he compare to some of the former pros, especially one from the Jordan family?

On the latest episode of 520 In The Morning, hosts Jeff Teague, DJ Wells, and B Hen debate Bryce James’ talent to make it to the NBA like Bronny. While the elder James played one college basketball season at USC before moving on to the pros, Bryce might do it longer like Jeffrey Jordan, Michael Jordan’s oldest son.

But as for who’s better than JJ? He’s not. Bronny is better than Jeffrey, but Bryce is not better than Jeffrey, the hosts claim.

The conversation goes on, “If they ever did a lineage versus, that’d be hilarious.”

“Who lineage is better, though?” That would be a hard question to answer because, in the Jordan family, it’s the dad who remains famous, whereas the older sons eventually moved away from basketball.

In the James family, the dad is still playing, the oldest son is a rookie in his debut in the NBA and the youngest is about to go to college next year.

“No, because Bronny made it to the league.”

What’s your perspective on:

Can Bryce James outshine Bronny and Jeffrey Jordan, or is he just another James in the making?

Have an interesting take?

“The Jordan family. The longevity is different because that’s what y’all do when y’all compare the best players. Y’all take sh– off court. One be trying to stay on the court. Y’all take off the court.”

“Yeah, I’m on the court with it,” continues the conversation on 520 In The Morning.

The LA Lakers had selected Bronny James as the 55th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft. The son entered the league to play with his dad, but many felt his game needed more exposure to the college level first. In his freshman year with the Trojans, Bronny averaged just 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game over 25 contests. However, it should be noted that things are now better in the G League, where he has improved his game.

The younger James, meanwhile, is getting ready for his route to the NBA as well. And his family couldn’t be more excited!

The James’s cheer for Bryce

Bryce James announced the news on Instagram with a photoshopped image of himself and Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd, captioning the image, “100% committed.” The same visual was shared by dad LeBron, who wrote, “CONGRATULATIONS MAXIMUS!! SO PROUD OF YOU!!!” Although the Lakers legend himself skipped the NCAA years entirely, the new rules require at least one year in college before they’re eligible to enter the draft.

With many now urging Bryce not to take the same path as his brother to the pros, it will be interesting to see how the high school senior develops his game. For his father’s ‘Strive for Greatness’ program on the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League circuit last year, Bryce James averaged 6.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 14 games.

It would be difficult to say who is better of the two brothers – Bronny is older, has better high school stats, and has a good overall grasp of the game. Bryce has more raw talent and is more defensive, not to mention taller than his brother. Still, more than a year away from the draft, could Bryce surpass Bronny?
