Alabama’s playoff fate is still not out of doubt. I mean, they are No. 11 in the latest CFP berth after sustaining three losses in the season, but they are not totally in control of their destiny. The ACC championship clash between SMU and Clemson Tigers will possibly write their fate in a final stretch. If Clemson loses, it is good news for DeBoer but in case SMU loses, there will be a strength of schedule comparison between the Mushtangs and the Bama and a small hole in the chart can kick them out of the bracket for real. But on the recruitment front, DeBoer seems to be ace the roster for a better next season. On the national signing day, they secured a five-star quarterback out of Duncanville, Keelon Russell. But is everything looking good for the new kid in the house? Brian Smith exposed a secret truth.

Russell caught the eyeballs of a slew of programs, including Alabama after a steadfast junior season at Duncanville High School outside of Dallas, Texas. He racked up a whopping 3,267 passing yards, 35 touchdown passes, and three interceptions. Also, he mounted 304 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns for the state championship-winning Panthers. Just months after he joined the forces with the Mustang, Alabama placed an offer. After an official visit to Tuscaloosa back on May 31, the kid gave the Tide a verbal pledge. Finally, on Tuesday, he made it a pen-and-paper truth. Can he be the next QB of the Bama squad?

Judging the odds, Smith spotted a minute problem in him that needed to be taken care of. ”The only question that I have about him, he needs to eat something. ‘He needs to be on my diet a little more to get a little bigger. But he’s very accurate. He’s got a natural motion. he’s got a natural motion and he’s a kid that’s pretty mobile. He’s going to be a really good player in time,” said the CFB analyst.

Bob Welton wants Keelon Russell to be with the Mustang for one last game

Alabama needs the strong push of fate to clinch their playoff spot after their tragic beatdown against three teams. Fans and veterans alike already started to blame the brand bias for their No. 11 spot in the CFP. But they will be in a tough spot if SMU loses his card. Although they are the favorite over the Tigers. But as per the season trend, it barely matters who plays the underdog. SMU didn’t have a win against the top 25 teams, marking a lack of strength and confidence. Although beating the Tigers shouldn’t be a big thing for them, in a crucial game like the ACC Championship, anything can happen. It is more possible when Dabo Swinney remains furious to answer to the committee by clinching a CFP spot after weeks of ignorance.
