Well, well, it is the Longhorns again. The once top team on the AP poll is now standing on the 3rd spot and the downfall can be credited to that one loss against Georgia. However, Steve Sarkisian did manage to bounce back nicely. Being the only SEC team without any road game losses, Steve Sarkisian and Co. are on a 3 back-to-back win run after the Dawgs game. However, that does not mean they will let things get over their heads. See, against Vandy and Razorbacks, Steve Sarkisian had a close call. The Dores almost managed to win with 24-27 on the board, but the Hogs didn’t even allow the Longhorns to cross past the 20-point mark. But here is the thing, though: Sark still thinks a much bigger challenge is approaching his boys.

Back on X, Josh Newman points out what the Longhorns HC thinks about the upcoming Kentucky Wildcats game. “Sarkisian doubles down on this week, being the biggest game of the season,” Newman mentioned in the caption of his post. As per Sarkisian, this Wildcats vs Longhorns game is a “potential ‘trap game'” that could end up becoming a deciding factor for the team’s fate in cracking into the semi-finals and skipping the playoffs completely.

See, the worry is warranted. The Wildcats are a weird team. They’ve had some very weird games on their schedule. They managed to defeat Ole Miss. Let that sink in. This is the same team that didn’t even allow Kirby Smart and his elites to cross past the 10-point mark.

Not only that, the Wildcats got way too close for comfort for Smart during the Dawgs showdown. 12-13 was the final score. Georgia was trailing behind Kentucky up until the 4th quarter, and if it wasn’t for Branson Robinson‘s touchdown, then Georgia could potentially have a 3-loss season by now.

Going into this game with a cautious mind is a good approach. People have not been that kind to Texas, and it is understandable why. They have barely faced anyone good and when they finally did (Georgia); they lost that game. So, it does make one wonder why on earth are they even on the 3rd spot? Regardless, the question now is, can the Longhorns power through Kentucky, or will this end up further staining the reputation of the team?

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Longhorns prove they deserve the 3rd spot, or will Kentucky expose their weaknesses?

Have an interesting take?

Kentucky is a hit-or-miss team. They almost managed to win against Dawgs and then went on to win against Ole Miss. That gives you a fair idea that, yeah, the team’s offense is quite capable. But then they went on to lose against Vandy and the Gators, which is wild.

Still, Kentucky does have a chance at reclaiming glory despite their 4 losses, and we think they won’t make it easy for Texas. See, the Longhorns have the advantage when it comes to pure offensive power. Sarkisian and his boys have been averaging a 35+ point season, while the Cats have barely managed to average a 20+ point season.

However, QB Quinn Ewers has been all over the place, and this could give the Wildcats’ defense an opening to turn over the game. Not only that, the Cats will try everything in their power to hold the game to the sidelines and stop any form of rush or pass attack from the Longhorns. The final result of this game will boil down to who makes the mistakes and who manages to capitalize on them.
