For a person who’s coached for over two decades, you’d think nothing would surprise him at this point. And yet, Nick Saban was left scratching his head after Pat McAfee made a bizarre analogy. The former might and pride of the Alabama Crimson Tide has been dealing with unruly teenagers for the latter part of his life for so long, and still, he couldn’t have prepared for the absurdity that spewed out of McAfee’s mouth in a recent interview.
Nick Saban, the former HC for the Alabama Crimson Tide, hung up his cape from the coaching world this year but not from the sport itself. After winning 6 national championships, he’s now ventured into the business of being a sports analyst with ESPN. It looks like the veteran is enjoying his time being the critic xrather than being critiqued all these years. But let’s just say that Nick Saban was almost appalled by the interruption McAfee had to make while giving his advice on how to be a good coach.

On a recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show, Nick Saban was invited to give his insights on the ongoing season and what words of advice he has to offer for the coaches who look up to him. Unfortunately, Saban’s priceless wisdom was halted in the middle by an anecdote, which, in turn, has left all the fans with their jaws wide open.
Nick Saban to @PatMcAfeeShow: “To not take responsibility and leadership to encourage the guys around you to play well is almost like, crazy.”
McAfee: “It’s wiping before you poop.”
Saban: “I’ve never heard that one before.”
McAfee: “It doesn’t make sense.”
Saban: “It does…

Mike Rodak, a writer for Alabama, documented the conversation and posted a tweet. It recorded the entire interaction and said, “Nick Saban to @PatMcAfeeShow: “To not take responsibility and leadership to encourage the guys around you to play well is almost like, crazy.” McAfee: “It’s wiping before you poop.” Saban: “I’ve never heard that one before.” McAfee: “It doesn’t make sense.” Saban: “It does not make sense.” Yes, coach! It definitely does not make sense and to even try making sense of it seems pointless. This exchange with McAfee will burn more oil for the rumors that speculate Nick Saban wants to quit the College Gameday show because of the former Colts player. But fortunately, that doesn’t seem to be true. Saban is having fun!

Nick Saban caught off guard by McAfee—Is this the funniest moment in college football interviews?
Have an interesting take?
Nick Saban, throughout his historic career, has been a rational man with not a lot of time or energy to goof around. Because of such a mentality, players were often scared of him and his demeanor. As such, he doesn’t seem like the type to bust out a few dance moves here and there. Nor is he the type to enjoy such a thing, which is exactly what occurred during a commercial break on the College Gameday Show. McAfee was spotted grooving a bit during the commercial break, and in a since-viral clip, Saban seemed to look cringed out, which paved the way to the rumors that the former HC might want to quit.
Addressing these hilarious speculations, Pat McAfee himself took to X and wrote, “So was Coach Saban side eyeing me out there?? 😂😂 I was vibin during the commercial break… minding my business.. going thru some notes.. living. They’re saying Coach wants to quit because of it 😂😂” A lot of the football community seems to love the new dynamic between McAfee and Saban, who’s showing a side to him that’s never been prominent in his years as a coach. But it’s also safe to say that it’s going to take some time before the renowned king of Alabama can begin to make “poop” jokes anytime soon.
