Is Jeremiah Smith the next big thing for Ohio State, or just a flash in the pan?

The Ohio State Buckeyes have not only secured a remarkable win of 35-7 over Iowa in today’s game but have also showcased phenomenal gameplay. With five back-to-back wins in the season, Ohio State is showing what they are capable of. Well, if you think that’s the only highlight of the game, then wait until you hear about Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

Today, CBS Sports took to Instagram to share a jaw-dropping moment from the Ohio vs. Iowa game. Captioning their post as “JEREMIAH SMITH IS UNREAL,”  Ohio State’s biggest emerging star wide receiver, Jeremiah Smith, scored a one-hand touchdown grab against Iowa. Talking about today’s game, Smith finished his game with four catches running for 89 yards with a touchdown, along with a 14-yard rush against Iowa. Such high-end performance from a freshman is beyond anyone’s expectations. Even fans couldn’t control their happiness over the fact and commented, comparing Smith with Alabama’s wide receiver Ryan Williams, saying, “Lmaoo, they will still suck Ryan.”

The one-hand touchdown catch was simply an example of excellence. Jeremiah Smith caught the 4-yard touchdown with only his right hand while he was holding Iowa’s cornerback Deshaun Lee with his left hand. Well, if you think this is the first time Smith did something like this, then you are wrong.

Last week while playing against Michigan State, Smith made two one-handed catches for Iowa. Smith’s first one-hand catch was for a 27-yard jump between two Michigan State defenders. Talking about his second catch, it was for a touchdown. Jeremiah connected with Ohio State star quarterback Will Howard and caught a pass. His one-handed catch extended Ohio State’s lead to 24-7 just before halftime against Michigan State. If that’s not worth acknowledging, then what is?

Jeremiah Smith’s one-handed catch has made fans so amazed by his remarkable gameplay that they can’t help but compliment his versatility, saying, “The fact one person can have that amount of athleticism is crazy.” Nothing far from the truth. Having such high-end skills starting as a freshman is commendable. Well, the appreciation for Jeremiah went to some other level when he was compared with NFL star wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, Julio Jones, saying, “Bro, remind me of Julio Jones.” Comparing Smith with a legend like Julio shows the amount of depth he has in his gameplay. The madness over Jeremiah Smith’s one-hand touchdown catch went to an extent where fans have already started rooting his name for the Heisman Trophy, saying, “Jeremiah for Heisman.” This might sound like a bit of exaggeration, but looking at his today’s game, it’s worth the try.

A fan made a cryptic comment saying Jeremiah has been overpraised, “Ohio State is so glazed the team hasn’t played anyone good.” It looks like this fan feels that Ohio State still has to face a tough competitor for them to believe in Smith’s abilities. Well, even if they say Smith is getting overhyped for his actions, they will say he is getting the exact amount of hype he deserves.
