Now, with the NFL draft inching closer, we have been scouring through any possible “accurate” Mock Draft predictions put up by the NFL’s official IG account. Take Bucky Brooke’s or even Chad Reuter’s draft list: The top five prospects for the QB division kept having familiar names—Shedeur, Dart, Ward, and even McCord. But something felt off. Like, your team wins the natty but your QB isn’t on any Top 5 list? Fishy, but saying that Will Howard didn’t “scr*w up” his combine would be a lie. A 5.90 prospect grade isn’t something you’d expect from Howard or even a natty winning quarterback. This answers why Will Howard hasn’t been present on a lot of Top 5 Mock lists.
Still, we’d like to present a different perspective: If Combine results were “everything,” then Brady wouldn’t be stroking those rings. And with how the Patriots played a gamble in drafting Tom Brady in the 6th round, maybe a different $10 billion dynasty is prepping to do the same for Howard? “Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is in attendance at the Ohio State Pro Day today.” Nick Harris took to X to share this update.
Now, this gets our pants on fire (not in the bad way). See, if we are to go off of Howard’s combine, yes, there were problems. His setups were very gradual, and it felt like this QB from Columbus was going to struggle quite a lot in throwing outside under tight windows. And as history has bear witness, the last thing the Cowboys want is a quarterback who chokes 50% of the time in playoff games.

Albeit all that, we’d still like to put our dimes on Howard. Why? Well, why not? If there is anything that OSU’s rise after the Michigan loss has shown us, it’s the fact that Will Howard knows how to carry a team to a massive comeback. You can argue that he “didn’t do it alone,” but we can say that he was, if not the most important instrument in Ryan Day‘s crusade.
42-17 against Vols. 41-21 against Ducks. 28-14 against Horns. 34-23 against Irish.
Howard was out there averaging at least 250+ yards in every game and a season high (and consistent) QBR of 90+. Unreal.
“When people ask you what happened here, tell them the North remembers.” This is Will Howard. You give this guy the football and you bet your best dime on him and he won’t let you down. Now, if we were Jerry Jones, we’d push for a Will Howard draft pick. Unless there is a different candidate who is raising a storm in the South.

Texas calling home
“Intrigued.” Without a clear context, this word falls flat – completely meaningless. But, what if we tell you that this was the exact comment that the Cowboys scouting department had regarding one Texan QB prospect?

“I think I’m the best [in the class] and the most ready for the NFL because of what I’ve been through.” What even are the Texas Longhorns without Quinn Ewers? A team that was barely averaging around 5 or 7 season wins rockets straight to multiple Bowl and even a playoff appearance. Ewers didn’t just make the Longhorns relevant again, he completed Steve Sarkisian‘s quest to put up the best team out there.
Now all of it did come at a cost. With how injury-prone Ewers had been all year, it’s a shocker that this guy didn’t get an ACL or something. But you know why we still tuned in for every Texas game? Because despite the knee injury or the shoulder, Ewers still got on the gridiron and played.
And maybe it’s for this resilience that the Cowboys are scouting Ewers as an eligible prospect for their QB mantle. Not exactly a bad choice, but when you compare this to Howard? Yeah, things get a bit murky. We think fans would agree that it’s not the teams that get the easy No.1 overall pick.
