Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and, of course, the fans have landed at Berkeley, California, to watch the game between California and No. 8 Miami. California’s taking baby steps into the ACC as they joined the league right before the 2024 season. It’s going to be their first home game as well.

However, the charm of today’s College Game Day show was former Standford tight end Coughlin, who’s popularly known as “Stanford Steve,” and his funny intersection with Saban. After looking at today’s episode, it seems Saban has a lot of potential to start an alternate career in comedy.

ESPN’s College Game Day is back with another hilarious episode prior to week 6 games. One of the intriguing moments that came straight out of the show was when Nick Saban took a shot at Stanford Steve, given his experience playing tight end for Stanford University. When Steve said, “I am biased so when it comes to the Cal fans, because whenever I played in that stadium, it was sold out, they do a great job. But I also wonder how many of these people are here because they didn’t get into Stanford. ” After listening to it, someone had to bounce back with a witty reply and Saban, being a man of the people, came up with an out-of-the-box question.

So the former Alabama head coach went to the show for Week 6 games, took his seat, and started talking with the rest of the crew. Everything was going well until when he spoke with the crowd, mostly Cal fans. The crowd, mostly Cal fans, suddenly demanded him to take off his red tie because red is the color of California’s bitter rival Stanford Cardinals, and no one from the crowd was wearing it.

Saban initially did not understand what fans were saying. That’s when his friend and co-host Pat McAfee pointed out to him that the fans were chanting for him to remove his red tie. Saban, being the coolest than ever, not only removed his tie but spun it in his hands and above his head, showcasing his loyalty to Cal.

But what he does next wins the hearts of Cal fans. McAfee gave him a blue and gold-colored tie, which are colors of Cal as well. And Saban continued the episode wearing that tie. Saban’s faithful gesture toward Cal is creating a buzz right now. But that’s not something new because every week, Saban does something that becomes the highlight of the show.
