Will Johnson's sudden exit—Is Michigan's season in jeopardy without their star player?

The Michigan Wolverines played exceptionally well and secured a 27-24 victory against the USC Trojans. Despite that, the team experienced some setbacks because of injuries. With Michigan’s star cornerback, Will Johnson heading toward the locker room. Let’s get into the whole incident and Will’s current health update.

Michigan Wolverines vs USC Trojans is proving to an exciting watch. However, both teams performed really well throughout the game. Even though the game was under Michigan’s control since the start of the first half, the Trojans handled the game well. Which finally resulted in a 27-24 win for the Michigan Wolverines. But as we say every good thing comes with a price. During the game there came news about Wolverines defensive back Will Johnson going to X-ray room. Pete Nakos took to X to confirm the news saying, “Will Johnson in X-ray room per CBS broadcast” to which @ Clayton Sayfie replied saying “Michigan CB Will Johnson is headed to the locker room.” But turns out there is nothing much to worry about.

In the beginning of the fourth quarter, cornerback Will Johnson was assisted by a staff member to the locker room during a timeout, with the team leading with a score of 20-17. As stated in the CBS broadcast, Johnson was going towards the X-ray room. Johnson exit was quite shocking for everyone as he made a game-changing play for Michigan in the second half, intercepting a hitch route for a pick-6 and giving Michigan a 20-10 lead. After the game, head coach Sherrone Moore gave an update on Will’s injury saying he will be fine and could enter for the upcoming matchups. He also added to it saying “He’s in a good place,” Despite Will Johnson’s sudden departure, Michigan still managed to win the game against the Trojans. Michigan’s win left Sherrone Moore highly grateful to the team for their exceptional performance.

After a long wait, the Michigan Wolverines finally got their revenge against the USC Trojans for the 2007 Rose Bowl loss. After an embarrassing loss of 12-31 against the Texas Longhorns, head coach Sherrone Moore and the team needed this comeback. Sherrone even expressed his happiness post-matchup, saying,It was insane. It was fun, and the best thing about our team was that we got a team, and whether you run it or throw it, we won; we beat a good team. So for us, that’s what it was all about.”.

Every player was in their best form during the matchup. Michigan’s new starting quarterback Alex Orji ran for 290 yards with three touchdowns. Alex proved that Sherrone made the right choice by selecting him over Davis Warren. However, the star performer of the match was Michigan’s’ running back Kalel Mullings, who scored a game-winning touchdown running for 150 yards with just a minute left in the game.
