Can Kamari Ramsey be the game-changer USC Trojans need to dominate this season?

Trojans star Kamari Ramsey just had his big day. His USC Trojans faced the fierce LSU Tigers this Sunday to notch up a nail-biting win over them. Now, it’s 27-20 and Ramsey deserves a part of the shoutout too!

Kamari Ramsey joined Lincoln Riley’s team this spring as a defensive star. Before that, he was quite the sensation at UCLA. Ramsey left his mark there with 40 tackles and started all 11 games last season for them as their defensive back. And now, he’s ready to make a similar mark with the Trojans too.

This summer, Ramsey opened up on Adam Breneman’s “Next Up” podcast about why he chose the Trojans. He explained that he “wanted to play on a big stage and get to a school that’s trending in the right direction.” But it wasn’t just about football though. Ramsey also marked “academics” in his checklist before making the move. Well, he’s now majoring in communication and still has 3 years of eligibility left at USC.

Plus, there could be another reason behind his decision to move. It’s the D’Anton Lynn connection! Yep, the Trojans’ defensive coordinator has previously coached Ramsey at UCLA and this bond might have also played the trick.

Now, Kamari Ramsey is still trying to make a mark with the ongoing 2024 season, but he’s already gaining attention for his underdog performances. He’s already on the watch list for the ‘Lott IMPACT award, and if he keeps playing well, he’ll be in the spotlight even more.

Trojans’ new sensation Kamari Ramsey

Kamari Ramsey and his USC Trojans just made a big splash in their first Week 1 game after entering the Big Ten conference. Well, let’s just say that safety Ramsey had a standout moment in the first quarter itself. On third down, he made a big play to stop LSU’s wide receiver, Aaron Anderson, from getting open. This led to a neck-and-neck game, with both teams battling it out with tie scores for a long. But as we all know, the Trojans ultimately clinched the win.

Well, Lincoln Riley has been a strong supporter of this talent since he joined his USC. After Ramsey arrived, Riley didn’t hesitate to praise him to the media, saying, “Kamari has been one of the steadiest and most consistent players.” And it seems Riley meant every word, as he quickly tasked Ramsey with a huge honor.

In July, the team headed to Indianapolis for their Big Ten media days. And alongside Riley were star quarterback Miller Moss and veteran O-lineman Jonah Monheim, who’s been the face of the team for four seasons. But Riley also brought a fresh face to represent the defensive side: Kamari Ramsey. Joining the offensive stars on such a big stage shows the faith Riley has in him.
