Would Nick Saban be as successful without Terry Saban by his side?

We all know Nick Saban was the greatest coach in college football. But often, in coaching, a coach’s partner is as critical as the success of a program because of the sacrifices they have to make to allow the coach to make the program the best. Undoubtedly, Nick Saban’s wife is the best example of that.

Having a supportive and loveable wife definitely helped Nick handle difficulties throughout his coaching career. Nick tied the knot with his wife on December 18, 1971, and their love for each other has exceeded the gridiron fervor since then. Many of you are curious to know how they met and which factors make their bond so strong. Let’s delve deep into it.

Meet up with Nick Saban’s wife

Terry Saban, also known as “Miss Terry,” is Nick’s famous and beloved wife. Terry met with Nick in the early 1970s, during their college at Kent State University. Terry was majoring in education in college, whereas Nick stood as a defensive back. Although the greatest coach accepted he was in love with this lady from seventh grade, she was into another guy then. Then, after leaving high school when they entered college, Terry “finally noticed” him, and “I finally got a date,” Nick said.

Born on January 15, 1952, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the same hometown as her husband, Terry has been embraced by the Tuscaloosa community. The lovely couple adopted two children, a daughter named Kristen and a son named Nicholas. Back in the day, during an appearance on the Next Round, Lance Taylor was able to inquire about the significance of her mother in their lives to Kristen Saban. She replied, “She’s the best coach’s wife that has ever existed really with all she has done.” Additionally, Taylor said, “She was very exposed and somebody that was at the forefront a lot.” However, this lady was known for her involvement in charitable areas.

Even after Nick’s retirement, Terry’s commitment to the community remained unwavering. She continued to dedicate her time and efforts to Habitat for Humanity, helping to build and dedicate 21 homes in Tuscaloosa. In 1998, they established the Nick’s Kids Foundation, which is evidence of their shared values and dedication to making a difference. The foundation’s mission statement is “To work together in the spirit of faith and giving in our community. To promote and support children, family, teacher, and student causes.This reflects their shared commitment to community service.

When Nick announced his retirement, Terry shared the news with the world through a heartfelt Facebook post. Her words, “It has been an incredible run these last 17 years at the University of Alabama and we take with us many amazing memories;” she hopes that the “Saban legacy will be about helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives and the winning tradition on the field” will reflect the warmth and support that underpins their relationship. Today, she supports Nick in his new career as a sports commentator.
