He soon became a steady, versatile force in 11 of 13 games during the 2023 season. He was ranked as the No. 5 interior offensive line prospect in the 2023 class and the No. 2 player in Ohio. His beloved is already a star in the making, a sophomore who has already proven herself to be one of the next big things in the Big Ten. Mia Tuman’s road to the Ohio State women’s volleyball team was one of excellence, discipline, and passion.  Tuman’s experience as a setter has put her in the conference’s elite group, with her currently ninth in assists per set in 2024. She is a master playmaker, and the reason Ohio State has been successful, always setting her teammates up to score with strength and vision.

But volleyball isn’t Mia’s only ability. Mia was a force in high school before going to Ohio State. She’s a setter at North Allegheny High School, where she has won four state championships in a row. She led on the court like no one else. In the 2024 season, she averaged a career-best 9.98 assists per set, ranking ninth in the Big Ten Conference. She also recorded her 1,000th career assist on August 30 against Florida International University and her 2,000th on November 29 against the University of Minnesota. These titles and the Gatorade Player of the Year in her junior and senior years set the stage for her successful transition to collegiate volleyball. Mia’s vision of the game, tactical thinking, and knack for motivating others is why she’s an absolute must-have for the Ohio State program.

Besides being a star athlete, Mia is also a star student. She’s a student now studying Sport Industry at Ohio State, majoring in innovation and strategy. As an intern at the Ohio State University Center for Innovation Strategies, Mia is in the trenches with a Fortune 500 client, exploring business opportunities through research, customer discovery, and early concept development. This internship combines her academy with her interests in problem-solving and thinking strategically. Mia has applied the teamwork, communication, and leadership lessons from volleyball to her academic work as well.

The way she does volleyball and innovation, as she put it, is in her own words: “It’s all about finding the rhythm with my teammates. When we click, it’s magic. I’m just focused on being the best setter I can be for the team.” Her volleyball life is guided by this attitude, as much as her work in business, where teamwork and good communication matter as much as talent.

& Mia’s internship at the Ohio State University Center for Innovation Strategies proves that she doesn’t just focus on volleyball, and Luke’s focus on football and school is evidence of his ambition to excel at every level of his life.
