Devin Brown is supporting Ohio State in misery

Is Devin Brown the unsung hero Ohio State needs, or just another backup waiting for his chance?

Have an interesting take?

It’s obvious that Devin Brown has always been there for the Bucks. Do you recall Will Howard leaving the game against Michigan in the second quarter after a hard hit during a first-down run attempt? After a two-yard gain, Makari Paige dropped Howard at the Wolverines’ 33-yard line.

When Howard was out, the Buckeyes’ crucial fourth-and-one play relied on backup quarterback Devin Brown. Brown’s handoff to Quinshon Judkins gained 10 yards, securing a first down. Moreover, that was not the first time Brown filled in for Howard. He previously filled in for an injured Howard in a late-September win over Michigan State, connecting with Jeremiah Smith for a touchdown.

Well, everyone thought that this might even be the case during the Bucks championship game against Notre Dame, too. See, Will Howard’s hand seemed pretty swollen up like a balloon during their game against the Longhorns, which made fans scratch their heads over the fact. Howard’s admission of a burst blood vessel during Friday’s Cotton Bowl resolved one of the game’s enigmas. Therefore, Devin Brown is out of the finals. It’s pretty rough, but let’s not forget the tough journey he had to reach here against all the odds.

Devin Brown’s journey to the Bucks

There is no denying that Devin’s journey has been truly remarkable. It all began in Queen Creek, Arizona, where he proved himself to be more than just an ordinary quarterback. As a sophomore, he led his team to the Class 6A state semifinals. Although his junior year was still impressive, Devin had even bigger dreams in mind.

That’s when he made the decision to move to Corner Canyon, Utah. Some may have seen it as a “family matter,” but in reality, it was all about personal growth. Transitioning to Corner Canyon was not just a step up for Devin—it was a giant leap. He went from being solid to becoming the MaxPreps Utah Player of the Year and an Elite 11 finalist. His stats were astounding, with nearly 8,000 passing yards, 85 touchdowns, and even a state championship game appearance.

However, it wasn’t just his performance on the field that evolved. Devin is a well-rounded individual who enjoys wakesurfing, fishing, and dreaming big in the world of business. He even made a symbolic gesture by switching his jersey number to No. 33 as a tribute to Sammy Baugh, showcasing his dedication to studying the game as much as playing it.

During his time at Ohio State, Devin faced numerous challenges. He endured three seasons, only one start, and battled through injuries that would have crushed the spirit of many others. But Devin remained resilient and always ready for the opportunity. When Kyle McCord transferred, Devin stepped up and showcased his skills in the Cotton Bowl, although his performance was cut short due to an ankle injury after just 18 snaps. Nonetheless, Devin’s commitment to the Buckeyes remains unwavering. It is this kind of unwavering dedication that sets him apart from other players.
