At this point in the 2024 college football season, the narrative surrounding the flip helps players make headlines. An example of this is USC’s 5-star quarterback commit. No, we are not talking about Julian Lewis, but there’s a new star QB sensation in town for the Trojans! California native Husan Longstreet, a highly regarded five-star quarterback, recently made news when he switched his pledge from Texas A&M to the USC Trojans. This choice was made public on November 17, not long after he went to see the USC Trojans play the Nebraska Cornhuskers and was pleased with the team’s performance as well as the coaching staff under Lincoln Riley. Safe to say, Longstreet’s impressive start makes him a top prospect, worthy of a 5-star rating.
Longstreet has solidified his reputation as a standout quarterback at Corona Centennial High School. A star since his early days, he made waves in 2022, throwing nearly 4,000 yards and leading Inglewood Varsity Football to a 13-1 record and the Southern Section Division 2 finals. Named Daily Breeze Player of the Year and all-conference, he completed an impressive 68.6% of his passes. The following year, he guided Centennial to the D1 semifinals with over 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. This season, he’s showcasing his dual-threat skills, averaging nine yards per carry while throwing for 1,641 yards and 19 touchdowns. And in April 2024, he committed to Texas A&M, but after a few months, he was amazed by the culture and head coach of the USC Trojans.

After a visit to USC, Husan Longstreet’s recruitment took a different turn. He attributed his decision to change commitments in large part to Coach Riley’s record in producing quarterbacks, noting that a number of his former players are already starting in the NFL and have won coveted honors like the Heisman Trophy. It looks like the standout quarterback will continue to remain loyal to them. But nothing has been resolved as of yet.
However, wait—by evaluating how this pledge affects the star quarterback, it will be possible to assess how serious his dedication is. Looks like someone is so committed to USC.

Have an interesting take?
Given the recent decommitment of Julian Lewis, the 5-star quarterback, Longstreet’s pledge to USC is viewed as a significant victory for the program. His arrival is anticipated to strengthen the Trojans’ 2025 recruiting class, which is presently ranked No. 13 in the country. Longstreet has demonstrated his ambition and willingness to contribute to the group by expressing confidence in his abilities to contend for the starting quarterback job at USC instantly.
Therefore, along with being a bright young player, Longstreet is a calculated addition to USC’s football program as they strive for on-field success in the future. “What made USC right for me is what Coach Riley has done in the past. He has five quarterbacks starting in the NFL right now and four that won the Heisman. It’s hard to turn down something special like that,” said the QB commit. It appears that the quarterback will continue to be faithful to the Trojans. In 2025, we’ll see where he takes this program.
