If the Longhorns have Arch Manning to take over Quinn Ewers, then Georgia’s got Gunner Stockton to lead the charge when Carson Beck is out. Listen, Carson Beck is amazing when it comes to pass plays and maintaining pressure with long throws, but for Gunner Stockton? It’s all about getting down and dirty with his run game. As the SEC title game rages on, Beck was counted out because of a serious injury. See, Georgia was trailing behind in this game at 3-6, and honestly, Beck wasn’t doing great either. Then again, with the injury, Kirby Smart has no option but to rely on Gunner.
And oh boy, it did pay off during the drive! Gunner came in, pushed through the downs, and handed off the football to Trevor Etienne for a Georgia touchdown. 3rd quarter in and this was the first touchdown of the entire showdown. Honestly, we gotta talk about this guy and his past exploits. With Beck being QB1, Gunner has seen very limited playtime. For the current season, he was put against the Golden Eagles and the Minutemen. Both games were where Georgia had blowout wins.

Other than that, though, Gunner has played a total of 7 games for UGA. During the 2o23 season, Gunner managed to snag 140+ yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Not bad for a redshirt freshman.
Back during his high school years in 2021, he was marked as the Gatorade Football Player of the Year when he helped his school end the year with a season record of 11-2. Pulled massive numbers with 4000+ yards and over 50 touchdowns. All of this makes you want to see this guy have his moment.
And this title game could be it. See, one thing is for sure—while Beck is more one-dimensional, Gunner is a dual-threat quarterback. He knows when and how to use those legs to run the football, and he won’t shy away from doing the same here. However, even if Georgia does manage to win, will they still be in the playoff?

Will the committee bend the rules for Georgia Bulldogs?
Remember 2023? FSU came out of nowhere with an undefeated season. However, there was one big issue. Against that North Alabama game, Jordan Travis was hurt quite badly. The quarterback dislocated his ankle during a very odd tackle.
While this did not stop the Seminoles from winning, it did put a big halt on their playoff dream. Yeah, folks, an undefeated team was snubbed off the playoff list because their starting QB was hurt and couldn’t play.

This started a massive wave of backlash against the CFP committee because this decision made no sense. It was as if going undefeated was completely useless. Now here is the thing. With Beck being out of this game, if Georgia loses, it could mean that they will lose their playoff seat.
If we are to go off the precedent that the committee set last year, Georgia’s entire natty run could be in danger. Beck has to make that comeback, or, as fans have pointed out, the Bulldogs are getting snubbed.
