Two radically distinct worlds collide! However, after they came together, they forged their own route. Here we are talking about Blake Barnett and his wife. Blake comes from the football world and currently plays quarterback for South Florida, while his wife comes from the surfing world. Both of them met over social media and started talking before they met face-to-face. Their love story is reminiscent of a movie script. 

But you know healthy relationships can be characterized by compromise, which teaches people to see things from their partner’s point of view and so is the case for Barnett’s wife. The lady changed from being a professional athlete who traveled the world to settling down to support her love. While people may have different opinions on this decision, supporting or criticizing her, it certainly helped her build a strong relationship with her partner.  

How did Blake and Maddie Barnett meet?

Blake Barnett’s wife, Meddia Barnett was formerly known as Meddia Peterson. She was a professional surfer from Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. Since Maddie was six years old, she has been a surfer. On top of this, she was chosen as the first New Jerseyan ever to be on the PacSun USA Surf Team. Along with that, Maddie was homeschooled and traveled six months of the year for her surfing career, according to press media. Additionally, she is also a fitness enthusiast along with being a former professional athlete. So, you can imagine how dedicated she must have been to her career. Just like her career, she was also fully invested in her relationship.

She met Blake in person for the first time while serving as an Under Armour spokesperson at the 2015 Under Armour All-American Game. Since then, they began dating, and following a year of long-distance remote relationship, Blake proposed to Maddie, and the two got engaged in 2016. Despite a long-distance relationship, they both felt a very strong bond. Maddie revealed that his continuous support, even from a distance, was what made their bond so strong.

In 2018, this lovely couple tied the knot when both of them were in their early 20s and because of that, they faced a considerable amount of criticism. Even though they faced criticism, the unwavering commitment of this power couple was bolstered by the support of their family. Despite having a happily married life, the journey from pro athlete to stay-at-home parent was not easy for Maddie. But her pregnancy taught her a lot about balancing these two. What challenges has Maddie faced as Blake Barnett’s wife?

Maddie faced a challenging journey before finally welcoming their son Brooks into the world, seven months after their marriage, as she said, “I think the hardest part was going from a professional athlete, constantly on the road and traveling to living in Tempe, Arizona, not knowing anybody and having faith that everything was going to turn out fine,“. For the Barnetts, having Brooks in the mix has been a worthwhile endeavor that has undoubtedly made their lives more interesting.

Bet it was a challenge for the new mother to shift from a highly independent professional sportsperson to dedicating your life towards familyhood. Hats off to Maddie! She skillfully maintained a beautiful balance between these two worlds. It appears that giving up her career for Brooks and Blake was worthwhile. 

However, Maddie wasn’t a football lover, but according to Maddie Peterson’s Instagram, she attended Blake’s first college football game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
