Jaylen Raynor, quarterback of Arkansas State, is the top college QB from the 2024 Manning Passing Academy. The 6-foot player grew up in Kernersville, North Carolina. He developed his skills as a footballer at East Forsyth High School in his hometown. Raynor made a significant impact early in high school; his notable performance was in his senior season. He rushed for 343 yards and scored three touchdowns. With the help of his determination and athleticism, he was a top player in the country during high school. With his outstanding performances at East Forsyth High School, Raynor achieved notable honors. Under his leadership, his school made a record of 12-1, which helped them to be in the third round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs. Raynor’s contributions throughout high school were significant for his team’s success.
Because of his impressive stats, he earned an honorable mention as an all-state pick and was a finalist for the prestigious Mr. North Carolina Football Award. He excelled in his senior year and made passes for 2,944 yards and 40 touchdowns. He also displayed his speed and rushed for 1,259 yards and scored 17 touchdowns on the field in the same year. Raynor had a remarkable season as a junior as well. Similarly, like his senior year, his junior stats are impressive as well. His significant contribution to the team rushing for 973 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns, helped him earn all-area and all-conference honors.

The quarterback’s dedication and stats during high school favored him to get offers from more than three football programs, including Arkansas State, Army, Air Force, Navy, UMass, and Miami. Eventually, he decided to continue his college career at Arkansas State.

In Raynor’s first season with Arkansas State, he earned the 247 Sports True Freshman of the Week title because of his impressive game in week 5 against UMass. He not only made an early impact but also displayed some impressive performance in 2023. He completed 20 out of 35 passes for 383 yards and set a record with six touchdowns. The same year, he also added 35 rushing yards and became the 19th FBS player. He is the only player since 2000 who has achieved 375 passing yards and six touchdowns in a single game. 2024 is Raynor’s second year with Arkansas State; still, he has earned major and significant awards and honors till now. His standout performance in 2023 helped him earn the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week title. He also earned the spot for himself on the Davey O’Brien Great 8.
His achievements do not stop there; because of his spectacular debut, he was honored with a spot on the On3 True-Freshman All-America Team. Being a key player for Arkansas State, Raynor needs to give his best in this 2024 season. Arkansas State played their last game against Tulsa, where Raynor threw a five-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Corey Rucker. His contribution in all the coming games will be very crucial for his collegiate success and mainly for his team.
