Who is Duce Robinson’s Mother & Father? 

Duce Robinson’s father, Dominic Robinson, was touted as the “Next Deion” when he was being recruited for college football. There are many similarities between father and son. Just like Duce, Dominic also played two sports- baseball and football. Minnesota Twins drafted Dominic; at the same time, he was a five-star recruit for college football. Ultimately, Dominic Robinson joined Florida State and played both defense and offense for the school between 2001 to 2004. 

His career did not go beyond college, but Dominic, in his senior season, featured as a wide receiver and a defensive back for Florida. Dominic Robinson’s involvement with football did not end with his playing career. Since then, he has taken up coaching. He served as the defensive coordinator of Graceland University and FCS Drake University. 

Duce’s father met his mother, Mary Beth Robinson when the latter became acquainted with a Florida State cheerleader. This was when Dominic was playing for the college. The couple met through their common friend, and the rest is history. Just like Dominic Robinson, Mary Beth also comes from a sports background. She was active in swimming at Florida State. It’s no surprise that their son, Duce, has been in the news for his athletic prowess since an early age. The foundations were laid at home- both by Dominic Robinson and Mary Beth Robinson.

How did Duce Robinson’s parents impact his sports journey?

The parents’ active involvement shaped Duce Robinson’s career from an early age. Dominic Robinson knew he should not force his children into a sport he loves. That kind of early exposure leads to early burnout among young athletes. Dominic told The Athletic, “I studied my butt off to get it right because I knew he was a special talent.” 

Here, getting it right meant that his son should have enough fire left in him to go full tilt in high school and college. As a result, the formal training component was not introduced in the early years of Duce’s life. 

Duce is all praise for how his parents have helped to feature in sports at such a high level. The uniqueness of his upbringing meant that Duce, when he started formal training, was involved in baseball, football, and basketball. Duce also credits his Baseball coaches for developing a unique outlook. At the same time, his basketball training also proved useful and helped him how to play your best despite physical contact.
