In a conversation with Bama OnLine, Hill Sr. said, “We really sat down and talked about what would be the best fit for him.” He added, “They also have always had great coaches. The tradition is there. It’s a winning tradition. The pride of the program and the brand speaks for itself.”

Alabama Crimson Tide and Hill’s family’s connection is quite old; it started when Freddie Roach was the team’s director of player development. In an interview with On3, Hill Sr. shared, “Coach Roach, we go back for a while when he was there with Bo Davis. He was recruiting one of my players, Raekwon Davis. It’s been on track ever since then. I’ve been knowing Coach Roach for a while. The relationship has always been great. He’s very straightforward, a heck of a coach, and develops great players.”
