Michael Hawkins Jr. is set to start for Oklahoma in week 5

After the major quarterback situation, Oklahoma’s head coach Brent Venables finally decided to go with Michael Hawkins Jr. as their starting quarterback this weekend. He made the announcement on Monday night and confirmed that Hawkins will take over Jackson Arnold, who started the first four games of the season.

ESPN reported Venables’s statement, “Mike will have his opportunity to run out there and be our guy and see where we’re at and try to give us a kick start.” Hawkins has a golden opportunity to outshine and show his HC and teammates his real potential. Last week, when the Oklahoma Sooners were struggling in the second quarter over Arnold, Hawkins stepped in. He finished the game with 7 out of 16 attempts for 54 yards, along with two lost fumbles and an interception.
