In the latter half of last year, following a spectacular matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game, Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson wrapped up their tenure as the legendary voices of the ‘SEC on CBS’. Nessler and Danielson signed off on a very emotional note, wishing the SEC the best in its strategic collaboration with ESPN and embracing CBS’ new deal with the Big Ten with an open hand. However, only within a few months, the terrific presenter’s duo made a return to Kinnick with a CBS broadcast of Iowa State football.

The two CBS announcers continued to prove that they could pull the crowd with an excellent on-point voice-over ever since they took over the mic back in 1991. Nessler had a chaotic ride altogether. Starting from CBS, he jumped ship into ESPN ABC, and NFL Network and finally reverted to CB. On the other hand, Danielson came a long way from carrying out his play-by-play radio duties with AI Ciraldo on Georgia Tech basketball to CBS’ lead play-by-play announcer. The all-round also had a great stint with NBA and college basketball.

From their shared legendary history, we can safely hope for a banger tonight. But despite the hype, the Recent controversy surrounding Gary Daneilson’ is leaving a bad taste in the mouth.

Have an interesting take?

Fans of Big 10 have recently been introduced to Gary Danielson’s voice and seem to get enough of it. Danielson and his long-standing on-air mate, Brad Nessler, took the call of the Iowa- Iowa State rivalry game last weekend and the response was far from positive.

Danielson has had a lofty record as a veteran color analyst but couldn’t live up to the expectation of not being able to get a basic rule. He misjudged a throwaway of QB Cade McNamara, calling it an international grounding. He realized his mistake by looking at the replay, but the backlash started to flood by then.

It will be interesting to see if covers up the damage this week with a quality analysis.
