A roller coaster college football season continues to ramp up. The Commodores and the Vols will meet in another exciting rivalry shot on Saturday’s noon kick-off. The two teams will face each other from an utterly different standpoint in the season. Tennessee will treat this game as a must-win to stick to their playoff hope after they have dropped the ball against Georgia and Arkansas in the last two weeks. On the flip, Vanderbilt has already made it to the bowl game after their unfathomable October stretch. The Commodores will have their credence high after racking up three wins as the underdog this season. Also, they have nothing to lose, so they will play their cards stress-free. The Firstbank Stadium will see a heck of a show this weekend. The cherry on the top? An intriguing announcer duo behind the mic.

No one sees Vanderbilt dominating over the higher-ranked Tennessee but unthinkable looms large in football now and then. While Tennessee receives the betting odds favor, the Commodores also had a history of getting under the skin of the favorites in the sneakiest way possible. They won multiple games as an 8-point underdog. Senior QB Diego Pavia continued to be a pain in the neck for the opponents throughout the season, mounting 2,029 passing yards, 671 rushing yards, and 22 total touchdowns. He led his team to several big wins as well. Enough reason to bank on him? Well, at least you can’t rule a surprise victory out. To witness the nitty gritty from the closest proximity and to narrate that to us in the most tantalizing way possible, Dave Neal, Derek Mason, and Taylor Davis will be there inside the announcer’s table. You can catch them live on SECN at 3:30 pm ET sharp.

However, Marking no potential accident shot on the Vols, they have a solid chance to reach their second 10-win regular season and make the 12-team playoff first time in history.

Freshman Peyton Lewis and running back Dylan Sampson will be under the heavy spotlight. If they don’t succumb to the big attention and intense workload, some massive things are up for the Vols. Tennessee RB coach De’Rail Sims reflected on both their strengths and noted how Lewis is getting out of his newbie cocoon and getting into the super attacking mode whenever he gets the ball. For Samson, coach De’Rail believes he will move past his recent weeks’ slump in Nashville.

But what did the head coach have to say in the pre-game press conference? Where does he see his team concerning a potential playoff chase?

Tennessee coach wants to play it cool ahead of a potential playoff match

Josh Heupel wants to keep it mellow before they hit the prize. He didn’t even mention the word playoff in his 10-minute-long interview on Monday. When asked about it, the HC gave a balanced strategic answer that reads, ‘‘There’s a lot of football to be played. That’s for everybody across the country, and it’s for us. We’ve got to focus on the task at hand and be our best on Saturday.”

”You’ve got to understand you’re going to get (Vanderbilt’s) best. Their best is really good.”. Heupel took a U-turn and jumped on to hype up their opponent.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Vanderbilt's underdog spirit crush Tennessee's playoff dreams this Saturday?

Have an interesting take?

Well, there is enough reason for the Vols coach to take a humble pie ahead of a deciding showdown. Tennessee has gone through a volatile season this far, so the coach, the mastermind, knows it best how a minimal control what you can control mindset can take them to their aim. Slow, steady, and favorite wrapped in an underdog’s spirit would be some head-one adjectives to describe coach Heupel’s headspace.

However, RB Dylan Sampson gave it as it is saying, ‘Everybody in the building knows the reality of the game and how much it means.’. The pre-playoff nerves are impossible to overlook. It’s flat in their voice!

It remains to be seen how the two teams fare on the ground and one of them comes out victorious.
