Let’s be honest, every parent wants their kid to grow up to be a good person, no matter what they do in life. For Omari Evans‘ dad, seeing his son shine on the football field is a major bonus, but it’s the kind of pride that goes way beyond touchdowns and trophies. Inspired by his dad, Omari is a rising star. He was a key player in Penn State’s Fiesta Bowl victory (31-14) over Boise State, hauling in a 38-yard touchdown early in the game.

Omari’s passion for football ignited during his childhood in Sandusky, where he lived with his dad from 2006 to 2016. It was during those formative years that he decided to dedicate himself to the game. But let’s not forget the biggest supporter cheering him on from the sidelines—his dad.

Who is Omari Evans’ dad?

Omari Evans’s father is Donovan Evans. He served in Iraq as an Army veteran and is known for his commitment and work ethic. To see Omari play, his dad juggled multiple jobs in Sandusky. It wasn’t easy—he missed his kids in Texas and even dealt with loneliness. But he faced it head-on, even turning his emotions into a music video, showcasing his talent for poetry, something he’s been doing since he was four! Today, Donovan lives back in Sandusky, working at Ventra after graduating from Perkins High School in ’99.

According to Donovan, his kid excelled in all areas of high school and played a variety of positions, including QB like him. However, due to his speed, Omari currently plays wide receiver and kick returner. And he has a lot of potential for Penn State, as per his dad.

Even though the Army veteran didn’t always have time to spend with his son, distance didn’t lessen their bond or relationship. For starters, check out Donovan Evans’ Instagram; he recently shared a picture of Omari’s ID card, which proudly reads ‘Donovan Evans, Father of Omari Evans.’ He captioned it, “Hooked us up with new gear for the Parents! Good pic.”

So, you get it now: Omari’s success is built on a strong support system. But let’s not forget the other key player – his mom! She’s been a huge part of his journey too.

Who is Omari Evans’ mom?

Dorian Evans is the mother of Omari Evans. She is a teacher and the author of ‘Understanding My Assignment’, a book that details her experiences as a mother of four children, including Omari. Her life as the wife of an Army veteran was difficult because she had to care for all four of her children by herself.

Well, this woman deserves praise! She manages everything with ease. Dorian currently lives in Killeen, Texas, with Omari and his sister Dayna. Being active on social media, Dorian frequently posts updates about her son Omari’s game as well as details about her life and fam.

The Penn State coaches talked to Omari and his family about enrolling early, giving them plenty of time to weigh the pros and cons. Dorian said, “It was a question I asked Penn State. He was ready for it. Early enrollment wasn’t something I initially considered, but after discussing it, he was all in.” It’s clear that Dorian played a huge role in guiding Omari’s football journey.

As a teacher, she played a huge role in shaping Omari into the man he is today. Her strict but fair discipline helped mold him into the successful wide receiver he is at Penn State. “Omari has shown flashes really since we recruited him and he came to camp. It’s about consistency. He’s practicing more consistently. He’s competing more consistently. He’s gaining confidence,” PSU head coach James Franklin said. Both his mom and dad were always in his corner, that’s for sure.

Where did Omari grow up?

From 2006 to 2016, Omari Evans resided in Sandusky. Following that, he relocated to Killeen, where he now lives with his sister and mother. He started playing football while attending Robert M. In October 2021, Evans made a commitment to PSU following his high school graduation. He was a WR when he joined the Nittany Lions, and he made an immediate impression in his debut season in 2022, playing in all 13 games and making his first touchdown. Like his initial season, the star wide receiver had several consecutive noteworthy stats.

However, the top athlete’s present goal is to defeat Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl. Is he capable of that?
