Who is Mykel Williams’ Dad?

John Johnson, father of Mykel Williams, does not simply stand on the sidelines and watch his son perform these feats. He played a decisive role in Mykel’s discipline and hardworking spirit. It helped the young man get to the college football level without anyone’s help. Johnson remembered, “He had a real passion for the game and was willing to do what was required.”

Before Mykel went to Hardaway High School in Columbus, Georgia, both father and son invested many sleepless nights in honing skills and building his strength. Starting with following the videos about the defensive line on X to organizing cones and hand guards for drills. John Johnson made sure that Mykel went beyond regular training.

When trouble tested Mykel in the form of a patella strain during his sophomore year on the team, Johnson continued to motivate him. “Injuries happen; trust the process,” he said to his son, knowing fully well that every great athlete will experience injuries once in a while. After his return to high school, Mykel quickly proved his worth and registered two sacks in his first game, establishing himself for an outstanding high school career.
Where Did Mykel Williams Grow Up?
Mykel Williams is from Columbus, Georgia, and he was raised in an area that gave him a passion for sports. He has been showing prodigy from an early age when he played for Pop Warner leagues and middle school competitions. But the actual launching pad of Mykel’s football adventure was high school. Originally drafted as an offensive tackle, he moved to the defensive side as a defensive end. A change that his father insisted on. And this change was the best thing that had happened to the young man.

Mykel was placed as the anchor man of Hardaway High during his junior and senior year teams. The opposing offenses assigned at least two and sometimes three defenders to block him. He achieved 49.5 tackles for loss and 29.5 sacks in his last season. The manner in which he prepared and displayed his knowledge about the game made him one of the best defensive prospects in the country.
From Columbus to Athens, Mykel Williams’ growth has been fueled by hard work and constant support. His father, John Johnson, did far more than just influence his future, he also imparted valuable principles that Mykel took with him on his way to success.
