Jake Briningstool is the son of Tricia Briningstool and former Spartans linebacker Tony Briningstool. He is among the fortunate players who come from a rich athletic background. The entire family shares a deep and strong relationship with Michigan State. Tricia and Briningstool individually play very important roles in tight ends’ growing football careers.

Tony Briningstool was a popular linebacker for the Spartans from 1987 to 1992. Briningstool’s connection to Michigan State runs even deeper because of his parents, who, along with his grandparents, attended the same university. Jake completed his high school in 2019, and Michigan State was the first Big Ten school to offer the tight end. The Detroit News reported Jake’s conversation, where he shared how close Michigan University is to him and his family.

“I grew up around the university.” Briningstool said, adding, “I lived in the Lansing area with my family for nine years before moving to Nashville in 2012. I remember going to MSU youth football camps and lots of home games as a kid.” Growing up in the center of Michigan State’s athletic culture is one of the best things that happened to Briningstool. The experience of being around the Spartans’ rich sports tradition influenced the tight end’s passion for football from an early age.

Despite his rich family roots with the Spartans, Briningstool committed to the Clemson Tigers and forged his own path. His mom and dad respected his decision, and since he started playing football, they have been his constant support.
