Bryant went to Hillcrest High School to sharpen his football skills and came out as a standout player. Most of his high school career played great, but his senior year performance was quite remarkable, where he secured 38 tackles and eight interceptions while returning for five touchdowns. After completing high school, he joined Kansas as a three-star recruit.

In his freshman year at Kansas, he made 22 tackles with two interceptions during eleven games he played, among which he started in seven games. During sophomore year, he saw action in 12 games and started for 11 games, for which he made 38 tackles and one touchdown.
