Is Matthew Golden the next big star for the Texas Longhorns? What do you think?

I loved the pressure of making big plays,” said the Texas Longhorns‘ four-star wide receiver, Matthew Golden, when he was in high school. Matthew was born on August 1st, 2003, and hails from Houston, Texas. His top-notch high school stats built a base for his collegiate journey, which he initially started at the Houston Cougars before transferring to the Longhorns. We are going to delve into the details of his high school journey at Klein Cain High School.

At Klein Cain High School, Matthew Golden excelled as a standout player. His versatile skills allowed him to play as a wide receiver and as a kick receiver. While he was in high school, Golden had many standout performances; one of such was in his senior year. He completed 1416 receiving yards for 74 receptions and averaged 19.1 yards per catch, which is quite cool. In addition, he secured 12 touchdowns in his senior year. In one of his key moments from those days, he made a remarkable 60-yard touchdown in the playoff against Klein Collins, which raised many eyebrows.

If we sum up his high school scores, he scored 32 touchdowns; along with that, he made 13 receiving touchdowns in his sophomore year alone and 12 during his senior year. In another notable game, he made a 44-yard touchdown in the game against Temple. Besides that, he played a key role in helping Klein Cain to a 9-3 record and a Texas 6A D-II second-round game during his senior year.

Matthew’s powerhouse stats from his high school years earned him many awards and honors. He was named the Texas District 15-6A special teams player of the year in his junior year. On top of that, Golden was part of the first-team-all-district in his sophomore year. After evaluating his play, most of the analysts rated him 26th ranked wide receiver in the state, and he secured 155th position overall in the US.

Golden’s shoes’ grip over the tracks helped him on his football journey as well. He recorded a 10.93-second record while running for 100 meters. Added to that, he secured a 21-foot, 8.5-inch-long jump record. Coming out of high school, Matthew got flooded with offer letters from several well-known colleges, including Texas, TCU, Arkansas, LSU, Cincinnati, Memphis, Arizona, and Pittsburgh, Wisconsin.

Later, he decided to attend the University of Houston for his collegiate career and enrolled early. He later switched to the Texas Longhorns. His legacy continues in college football.
