Staying undefeated is no easy task, but the Texas Longhorns are pulling it off in style. With a 5-0 record so far this season, they’ve been on fire. As week 6 approaches, it’s hard not to feel confident that they’ll keep this streak going. But hey, let’s not jinx it—anything can happen in college football. The future is unpredictable and wins or losses are always up in the air.
For now, we can say one thing for sure: “Texas Athletics is home to some of the best student-athletes in the world,” as Texas president Jay Hartzell proudly shared. He also highlighted the university’s plans for a state-of-the-art football practice facility designed to help these athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field. Curious about this new facility? Well, Texas recently teased it on social media, revealing a glimpse of what’s to come.
Located just south of the Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin, this new practice facility is “coming soon,” complete with renderings to give fans a sneak peek. It’s going to be nestled between the Jamail Texas Swimming Center and the student recreation center. According to reports from “Horns247,” the project is expected to cost around $70 million and won’t be finished until 2025.

The Texas Longhorns’ new football training facility will open in 2025—part of multi-million dollar upgrades before joining the SEC:

So, why the big investment in football? It likely ties back to Texas’ move to the SEC. After leaving the Big 12 following the 2023–2024 season, Texas, along with Oklahoma, officially joined the SEC in July 2024. This switch could be the driving force behind their decision to upgrade their facilities and stay competitive at the highest level.
Texas Longhorns’ state-of-the-art upgrade
Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte explained, “Ongoing facility investments will help us further align our physical resources with the world-class expectations that exist for one of the nation’s best departments.” Well, the new football facility isn’t the only upgrade happening on campus. The university has also invested in improvements to the beach volleyball locker room, added grab-and-go football concessions, and created a new social area for baseball fans called the “Yeti Yard.” These changes are designed to support the athletes and showcase their talent and potential.
The new practice facility will replace the aging Bubble facility, which was cutting-edge when it was built in 2002 but has since become outdated. The upcoming complex will feature both indoor and outdoor fields, a three-lane sprint track, a hospitality area, and special practice spaces for offensive and defensive linemen. It will also include parking, making it as functional as it is impressive.

When the facility is complete, the Longhorns’ campus is going to look incredible, offering top-tier amenities for athletes and fans alike. But for now, we’ll have to be patient. In the meantime, get ready for Texas’ next game against Oklahoma, both of whom are now the new kids in the SEC.
