10 passed away. Over 30 were injured. The little haven located at the heart of the French Quarter became a zone of nightmares. A man in a white truck was seen driving into a crowd of people and then proceeding to open fire. 2 police officers have also been injured in the incident, and this entire thing managed to send the entire state into chaos. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has marked the incident as a “terrorist attack”, and the investigation is now being handled by the FBI as well. Our heart goes out to all the people who lost their lives in the tragedy. Also, this entire incident has managed to make the Sugar Bowl situation quite complicated.

Georgia and Notre Dame were expected to face off in the Sugar Bowl, but it looks like this won’t be happening anytime soon. On3 reported that the game is reportedly being postponed to Thursday as the FBI has advised. “As of right now, it’s only being postponed one day,” District Attorney of Orleans Parish Jason Williams informed. This is the best course of action. New Orleans Superintendent of Police Anne Kirkpatrick has pointed out that “It was very intentional behavior. This man was trying to run over as many people as he could.”

As the police department hands the security at the Sugar Bowl and all the other playoff games, it is important that people do not panic. Regardless, the news of the delay is sure to make fans a bit sad about the entire scene.

Just a few moments earlier, Louisiana State Senate former member Marc H. Morial had given a green signal for the playoff game. The only call Morial made was to treat the events as national security events and increase security.

While Georgia and ND fans deal with the unfortunate news, we have some good updates coming your way. Pete Thamel took to X to share, “Have been told there could be discussions about an earlier kick time for the Sugar Bowl tomorrow.” This decision is being made with the rest and recovery prospects in mind.

Final update on the news: The game is happening at 4 PM ET as reported by Yahoo Sports. Furthermore, another update: many fans/people were worried about the situation of the UGA students and staff. We do have an update from the University of Georgia regarding it.
