This dude is always on the news for all the wrong reasons. A drama that started way back in July continues. We had all thought that McClain was probably out of the team back then. All the rumors pointed out that his behavioral issues had gotten so bad that UF had decided to suspend him. But nope, HC Billy Napier and Cormani’s agent both came out stating that the rumors were all false and that McClain was still on the team prepping up quite well. Then it was all radio silent.
Back on September 1st, Rivals posted on X a snap of McClain giddying up before hitting the turf against Miami. However, he wasn’t there during the game as well. What kind of Christopher Nolan plot twists are these?
Now, as the dust from the disgusting defeat against Miami was settling down, Cormani decided to stir the pot again. “I am being humble rn, but eventually everybody gotta pay,” was what the CB decided to write on his Instagram story. This makes everyone scratch their heads. With all the hype that has been around Cormani and his ability to shape up the Gators’ defense, it’s kind of weird to think Napier would bench him without a proper reason.

BOULDER, CO – SEPTEMBER 30: Cornerback Cormani McClain #1 of the Colorado Buffaloes celebrates a pass defended in the end zone in the third quarter against the USC Trojans at Folsom Field on September 30, 2023 in Boulder, Colorado. (Photo by Dustin Bradford/Getty Images)We did see fans come up with multiple theories ranging from Cormani not being physically ready to him being actually removed from the roster. However, HC Billy Napier has gone on record to state, “We’ve had a terrific offseason and very impressed with all phases we’ve been through.” How can you say your team is ready but then bench one of your best players?
Amidst all the plot twists, the real reason why McClain has been absent from the Gators game is still not out. Even his mother, Kaishay, who has often been very vocal regarding the rumors surrounding her son, has been silent recently. All of this, at the end of the day, does not fare well for Billy Napier. We have already seen the mess the Gators were against a team like Texas A&M. Could it be that all of this poor decision-making can lead to Napier’s firing from UF?

2 back to back-to-back losses as the season started and then 1 hopeful game against Samford. Gators fans probably thought that the team was back on track. Well, no. The Texas A&M game was a slap to every fan and snapped them back to reality. There is only one person to blame for all of it. Billy Napier has done nothing but make the wrong choices. From using Graham Mertz as the starting QB instead of someone like DJ Lagway, to benching McClain without any solid reason.
It ain’t no wonder why Paul Finebaum, on The Matt Barrie Show, was quick to point out that Napier could be fired after all this. In the end, there is no way of coming out of this. The schedule for the Gators is already a rough one. With top teams waiting to take a pick, Napier and his boys cannot survive. More so because none of the star players (Kahlil Jackson, DJ Lagway, or Cormani McClain) are playing. Either they are injured or they have been replaced with a freshman who is much less talented. 3x National Champs and this is the condition Napier has managed to drag the team to.
