Can Nick Saban overcome this personal tragedy and lead Alabama to another championship?

In the college football era, you have no choice but to be familiar with Nick Saban. He helped Alabama shape many players, but throughout his career, if he wants to give all the credit for his position, it is his mother.

Nick’s mother is no more. It’s a tough pill for Saban to swallow, considering their strong bond. But it will give us clues about Nick’s emergence as a coaching great with an outsized impact on college sports.

Losing parents is a priceless loss for any person, as is the case with the former Alabama head coach, Saban. According to a Tuscaloosa News obituary, his mother, Mary Saban Pasko, passed away at 92. On August 30, @Sidelines_SN, the account for fans of the University of Alabama, shared a post with a heavy heart, mentioning, “Mary, the mother of Saban, has passed away at the age of 92. Thoughts are with the Saban family“. However, the reason for death has not been revealed yet.

Saban’s daughter Kristen also seemed to confirm the news of her passing on Thursday night by sharing a post on her Instagram account. The post featured Mary with the song “Heaven by Noon.” When Saban’s father passed away, the reason attributed to his death was a heart attack. However, with Mary’s passing, we don’t know the precise cause.

Born on July 29, 1932, in Michigan, Mary moved to West Virginia and attended Farmington High School, where he met Nick Sr. After that, they got married, and they had two children, Nick Jr. and Dene. Per the information in her obituary, “Mary supported the Pop Warner Black Diamond Football team, working concessions and decorating the bus which Nick, Sr. drove to pick up the boys from all the small inaccessible areas in the hills of West Virginia while both of their children participated.

Mary and Saban also owned Saban Gulf Service Station, a restaurant, and a Dairy King. Moreover, she worked at CB&T Bank. We all are upset after hearing such tragic news, but according to the obituary, “The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to Nick’s Kids Foundation at nickskidsfoundation.org or by mail at 1130 University Blvd. Ste.
