Is Aidan Mizell's absence the final nail in the coffin for the Gators against UCF?

As the Gators set up to take on the running machine aka UCF Knights, every eye is on what Billy Napier will manage to mess up this time. The injury report was released before the game and it does not look good. Can Billy Napier win this one back despite his offense and defense being extremely crippled? We all know that the knights won’t be making this easy, and the only weapon that Napier could’ve made use of against UCF is somehow inactive.

Jacob Rudner took to X to share the list of inactive players on the Gators roster. “Florida inactives against UCF based on warmups: WR Aidan Mizell, RB Treyaun Webb RB KD Daniels TE Tony Livingston DL Joey Slackman CB Ja’Keem Jackson S Asa Turner,” Rudner noted. The one name that stands out is Aiden Mizell. Coming hot from Orlando, this 4-star player was supposed to be the star of the show.

The weirdest part of all of this is that Mizell looked completely healthy. The previous injury reports hadn’t mentioned anything regarding the WR and any injuries he might’ve sustained. This freshman had already managed to rack up around 77 yards and 1 touchdown in 4 games.

Everyone probably had the notion that Eugene Wilson would be out of the game and Mizell would be taking over. The injury report noted that Wilson’s status was “questionable” as he was still recovering from his meniscus injury.

It looks like that won’t be the case anymore. The concerning part is that with so many key players out, can the Gators even manage to tackle the Knights? We do know that UCF will be trying everything in its power to win this one. More so because they are coming off of a disastrous game against the Buffs. So, what could be Napier’s saving grace?

Can Billy Napier not disappoint in this one?

What you gotta keep in mind is that UCF is known for its run game. While against the Buffs, this entire strategy was crippled by the Buffs defensive line (all the credit goes to DC Robert Livingstone and what he has managed to get done with the defense), Napier does not have any such grace.

Knights QB KJ Jefferson will look for his second win at the swamp. However, there is still a possibility that the Gators’ defense will be able to handle the team well. Against the Bulldogs, Napier and his defensive line were on point. They didn’t allow any major plays and things were quiet on the front. Right now the Gators are leading with 7-3 and we gotta wait and watch if Napier can manage to turn his 2-2 run to 3-2.
