Quinn Ewers of the Texas Longhorns is one of the three cover athletes on EA Sports College Football 25. This information was finally made public back in May. Significant for Ewers as well as Texas supporters, those who had been waiting impatiently for a college football video game since NCAA 14 was the last one released. Donovan Edwards, the running back from Michigan, and Travis Hunter, the two-way star from Colorado, joined him on the cover.
Being on the cover not only acknowledges the enormous brand Texas is but also demonstrates Quinn Ewers’ status as a superstar. Over the past few weeks, EA Sports has been revealing new information about the game, which is set to release on July 19 but the rating that Ewers would have in the game was finally revealed on Monday. Now, the question is: what rating would he get?

The starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, Quinn Ewers, received a strong rating of 92 overall, while quarterbacks Carson Beck of Georgia and Shedeur Sanders of Colorado both received 93. Now, you can think Ewers was not happy as he would not be able to beat top contenders in rating. However, the actual scenario was totally different; he was not happy! But it wasn’t because he was unable to defeat others; it was about not meeting his own expectations. In May, predicting his own ranking, Ewers said, “I’m going to go with what I truly think I’m going to be. I think I’m going to be around a 96 overall,“.
Moreover, after getting a 92 rating and becoming one of the three cover athletes, the running back stated, “It’s not just good for me, it’s good for the whole university and it’s good for all our players,” adding, “Just having the name ‘Texas’ on the cover is awesome for everybody and the whole university is excited. It’s cool to see all that excitement for sure,“. Now, let’s take a tour through Ewers’ early life.

Football journey of Texas starting QB
Starting from Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, becoming the Heisman Trophy-worthy QB was not easy for Quinn. Most importantly, he is recognized for his fast speed. In addition, to being a 2020 Landry Award finalist, Ewers had insane high school stats: 6,445 passing yards, 73 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions on 450-of-643 attempts. On 115 carries, Ewers, a superb “improvisational QB,” amassed 701 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. That’s all in just 22 QB games!
The most significant victory, though, was achieved by Ewers when he outran No. 3 Alabama, going 24 of 38 for 349 yards and three touchdowns. The Longhorns’ victory over the Crimson Tide ended Alabama’s 21-game winning streak at home, and it was Nick Saban’s first home loss in double digits since taking over as head coach of the Crimson Tide in 2007! Against the legendary Alabama team of Nick Saban, Ewers became the first quarterback from outside the SEC to pass for more than 250 yards and two touchdowns.

Moreover, the star athlete led the Longhorns’ fans through an exciting season in which they watched the Texas storm to a Big 12 championship and punch their ticket to the College Football Playoff with an impressive 12-1 record. That time, Ewer was back as the starting quarterback for the Longhorns. Currently, he is preparing for the Texas big clash in the 2024 CFB season.
