Woah, another big hoopla is in the making in CFB. The men in question are Warren Sapp and Pat McAfee. Well, the Colorado Buffaloes grad assistant shouldn’t be having any business with the ESPN College GameDay host. But the reality is different. Reason? McAfee going on a full campaign mode for the Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard.
Turns out that it did not sit well with the CU grad assistant. Things had hit sour notes when Sapp passed McAfee’s claim for Howard as a sheer act of ‘lying.’ While the ESPN commentator is yet to reply to Sapp’s claim, he did make a surprising revelation about his show.

Warren Sapp slams Pat McAfee’s pre-Combine claims
Was Pat McAfee running some PR for Will Howard? Well, he had to. After all, Howard was able to lead Ohio State to a national championship during his Year 1 with the team. During his stint at Columbus, the QB completed 73% of his pass attempts for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. So, his hype meter was hitting the roof before the NFL Combine. On his podcast, the ESPN analyst shared some inspiring stories. As McAfee shared, the QB was seen by people walking around Indianapolis working on his throwing. “They look into a hotel parking lot. It was a little chilly in Indianapolis and there’s one guy taking dropbacks and throwing a football over a parking thing to the other side and there’s somebody catching it.” But Sapp is in no mood to believe this story.

On the March 6 episode of Thee Pregame Network podcast, he did express his views to Uncle Neely. Taking the Buffaloes’ side, he claimed, how the analysts made a big deal out of it when their QB Shedeur Sanders opted not to throw in the NFL Combine. Sapp continued, “Then you hear these wild stories about the quarterback from Ohio State out at the parking lot throwing the ball – oh stop it! Just stop it, just stop the lie… ain’t nobody out 11 o’clock throwing no ball in Indianapolis. It’s freezing cold…Pat McAfee stop the lies.” What made Sapp to claim so? Maybe, McAfee overpitched Howard. But can the analyst be blamed?
A fact’s a fact, and the Buckeyes QB had shown signs of greatness last season. Surprisingly, his talents vanished like a puff at the Combine. He failed to hold the defenders at bay. Plus, Howard lacked arm strength to beat tight man coverage on second and third-level throws. His biggest turn-off from the Combine? Howard was late on his throws. Sometimes overthrew to his receivers and displayed a lack of coordination with the wideouts. While Sapp came off with a surprising attack on McAfee, the ESPN analyst’s revelation left fans in shock.

Pat McAfee takes a bold call after feeling disrespected
On Wednesday, March 5, McAfee confirmed that he will not take his show to the April 24-26 Green Bay draft held at Lambeau Field. The ESPN personality tweeted, “We were invited by the NFL to the combine. Just had to make sure there was enough space in the stadium 😂😂 We will be doing the Draft Spectacular LIVE from the ThunderDome this year.” The reason behind the change of mind? Well, turns out McAfee was not pleased with his show’s treatment at last week’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. And he is just scared that these problems might repeat in April’s NFL Draft and he does not want to take any risk.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Pat McAfee hyping Will Howard too much, or does the QB deserve the spotlight?

The real issue revolved around NFL staffers preventing his crew from constructing their set at Lucas Oil Stadium. Now these logistic issues could have been addressed before their arrival. McAfee even shared some slides that showed him jumping into action and lending his hand in measuring out various locations. However, this narrative has been twisted.

Sources claimed that Pat McAfee wrote on social media about being treated with what he says was insufficient respect. The ESPN analyst did not waste any time to defend himself. He stated, “I don’t think I’ve ever said ‘insufficient respect’ in my life.’ Now, was there a lack of respect? For sure.” While college stars were fighting for attention at the NFL Combine, Pat McAfee somehow made sure a bit of that glare fell on him — though not exactly for the best reasons.
