From the ’70s to 17, love has always found its way onto the college football stage, taking different shapes and forms. But on Valentine’s Day, the whole football world turned red—literally. Players and coaches alike put their hearts on display, reminding us that life’s biggest wins don’t always come on the field. From future stars like Bryce Underwood to championship QBs, love was the real MVP. Whether it was grand gestures or simple moments, the ‘Gram was buzzing. Because let’s face it, football isn’t just about grinding between the lines—it’s about winning in life, too.

We all know how the world scrutinizes Bill Belichick’s relationship, finding ways to give him and Jordon Hudson a hard time because of their 48-year age difference. Remember last week’s NFL Honors? Even Snoop Dogg made sure to crack a ‘not-so-unique’ joke about their age gap. But despite all that, Coach Belichick and Hudson always emerge strong. And as we know, Coach Belichick always has an interesting way of showing his love, and this time was no different.

While on Instagram, Bill Belichick marked a rough anniversary: 30 years since the Cleveland Browns packed up and bolted to Baltimore, stating that Valentine’s Day is usually about love, but in 1995, Cleveland got heartbreak. When Art Modell left, Belichick and many others were left behind. Though he jokingly suggests nobody cared then, and perhaps still doesn’t, he nonetheless shared his “all-Belichick team,” giving credit to Michael Lombardi. However, Hudson ensured their special day didn’t pass without a touch of romance, so she posted a beautiful Instagram story with a bouquet of roses and a cup of coffee, with a caption that read, “Did you wake up and choose love today? We did.”

Even the nation’s No. 1 quarterback prospect, Bryce Underwood, made sure his girlfriend, Day’iana, felt special on this day. He posted a photo of them together as “ur valentine” on his Instagram story. The two share a loving bond and frequently fill each other’s comment sections with sweet messages like “I love you.” Day’iana is a rising YouTuber known for her storytime content and vlogs. Her YouTube channel, “Day’iana The Doll,” already has more than a thousand subscribers.

The Wolverines’ new QB isn’t the only player making headlines this season—other CFB stars have also captured attention, and now let’s turn our focus to the couples whose love stories are setting the internet ablaze.

Love is in the air in college football

How can we talk about Valentine’s Day and forget Will Howard’s name? His love life was a subject of speculation some time ago. There was confusion between Howard’s current girlfriend, Skyler Skoglund, and his ex, Lauren Leiker, as people mistakenly identified Skyler as Lauren. But now that Howard is posting Instagram stories featuring Skyler, let’s just say there’s no more confusion. The OSU quarterback shared an adorable collage of his special moments with Skyler, captioning it, “My Valentine, So much Love for you Skyler.”

Not just Howard—Florida Gators star QB DJ Lagway also hopped on Instagram, sharing a mirror selfie with his girlfriend, and Gators’ softball star Ava Brown. That post perfectly captured their bond, and they even give fans sneak peeks into their relationship on their shared TikTok account.

Speaking of sneak peeks, Indiana QB Kurtis Rourke made sure his wife, Caroline Clippard, felt the love. The couple, who married last February 17th (a date close to their anniversary), celebrated with Kurtis posting an Instagram story captioned, “Happy Valentine’s Day I Love You.” Off the field, they’re not just a great couple—Caroline, an Ohio Bobcats volleyball standout with a sports management degree, makes them a true powerhouse duo.

LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier rounds out our couples. Even though he’s staying in Baton Rouge for another year, meaning a long-distance relationship with his graduating girlfriend, he gave his longtime love, Ella Springfield, the Valentine’s Day spotlight, posting a story of their brunch feast captioned, “My Forever Valentine.” Ella reshared it with a heart emoji—because some love just speaks for itself. From Instagram stories to TikTok moments, college football stars made sure Valentine’s Day was one to remember, proving that winning off the field matters just as much.
