“I want to emulate Michigan’s build,” said USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley while talking about Michigan’s dynamic gameplay last season. Riley has time and again praised the defending champions, either by calling them “Blue Blood” or talking about their overall performance. But it looks like he finally found something common between the two teams. What’s that? Let’s get into it.

On 12th September, famous media personality Jack Smith took’ to share Lincoln Riley’s recent comment on Michigan’s HC Sherone Moore during a press conference. As the USC Trojans will face the Michigan Wolverines on September 22, Lincoln has often been asked about Michigan lately. In the meeting, Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley talked about the similarities he finds between him and Michigan’s head coach Sherone Moore, saying, “#USC HC Lincoln Riley said there aren’t many coaches that have been asked to step into a situation like he was at Oklahoma and Sherone Moore has been at Michigan, being promoted from within to uphold a successful program. It’s a cool thing, Riley.” Well, it’s tough to lead teams with such high track records.

Lincoln Riley feels that when he was the head coach of Oklahoma, the program was in a similar situation to what Michigan is now under Sherrone. Both blue-blood teams with a long history and tradition of winning, taking over such high-achieving teams and trying to maintain the same standard, can be both pressuring and rewarding. Lincoln also mentioned how much he respects the Michigan team, saying, “The thing I respect the most about them is that they stayed very true to their process and ignored everybody on the outside.” Well, looking at Michigan’s last performance against Texas Longhorns, this came as a relief. It will be interesting to witness how Sherrone Moore’s Michigan changes their misery to win in further matches.

Michigan Wolverines’ disappointing performance

“A lot of guys haven’t lost a game here at our home stadium, and nobody likes that feeling,” said coach Sherrone Moore while addressing their embarrassing loss against the Texas Longhorns. The team failed to keep its defending champion title intact as they lost by a high margin of 12-31. Michigan struggled to run the ball throughout the match. Surprisingly, the defense was very weak, and they did not score a touchdown until the final two minutes of the match.

Have an interesting take?

The Wolverines failed in the passing—two interceptions running for 39 yards. The run game was quite off. The team received its first touchdown after 58 minutes into the game. They only gained 88 yards on 22 attempts, which is an ultimate representation of their poor gameplay. However, Lincoln Riley tried defending Sherrone Moore’s Michigan’s weak performance in the best way possible. Let’s see if the team could regain its spot in their further match.
