USC fans are livid with Alex Grinch—Is their anger justified or overblown?

Well, the drama started before the actual game. Today, the USC Trojans are going up against the Wisconsin Badgers, and surprisingly, the Badgers are giving tough competition to the Trojans with a 10-24 score. But the highlight of their much-awaited showdown is Wisconsin safety coach and coordinator Alex Grinch. The Trojans’ fanbase started throwing him under the bus for ditching their head coach, Lincoln Riley, for the Badgers. Let’s see what the fuss is all about.

If you don’t know, Alex was part of the USC Trojans before and was working as a defensive coordinator for them. Trojan’s head coach Lincoln Riley and Alex Grinch used to work together at USC, and now, when he joined Wisconsin as safety coach, USC fans are taking shots at him. McKenna Keil reported from the game about the treatment the USC fans are giving to their former player. Former #USC defensive coordinator Alex Grinch hears boos and some less than kind comments from Trojan fans as he runs up the Coliseum tunnel after pregame warmups. Grinch is now the #Wisconsin safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator.”

However, the reason behind Alex Grinch’s move towards the Badgers was their head coach, Luke Fickell. Alex had a huge respect for Luke and the respect he held for his work and coaching style. During an interview, Alex shared his fondness towards Luke, saying, “Coach Fickell and obviously his leadership and his success rate, proven approach to building a program.”

Well, who doesn’t want to work with their idols? Even coach Fickell showed confidence in Alex even after his poor lead in USC saying, “Guys that have gone through that and humbled themselves and you can recognize that, I think they are a hell of a lot better in the long run.” For now, let’s see how the Badgers perform under Alex’s guidance in today’s match. Or will his former team take over the game?

Will the USC Trojans get ahead of the Badgers?

Well, it’s going to be a do-or-die game for both teams. The USC Trojans need to bounce back after their embarrassing loss of 27-24 against the Wolverines. And the same follows for the Badgers after their high-margin loss of 10-42 against the Crimson Tide. However, talking about their individual gameplay, the Trojans might have an edge over Wisconsin.

Have an interesting take?

During their last game against Michigan, the Trojans may have overpowered the Wolverines’ offense overall, but they missed the big plays in both halfs. On the other hand, the Wolverines’ offense came handy when it mattered the most at the end of the 4th quarter. It was a tough loss, and Lincoln Riley would want a comfortable outing against the Badgers to get the momentum back.

Talking about the Badgers, the team still struggles to get significant numbers on the scoreboard. The team failed to score more than 14 points in their last two games. However, looking at their ongoing game, Wisconsin finally broke their 14-point record as they were already ahead of the Trojans in the second half. Let’s see if they can maintain their consistency till the end and secure a win against USC. Till then, keep supporting your favourite team.
