The big season opener for USC and LSU fans has kicked off at Allegiant Stadium. The teams are both entering new conferences with changes in the QB starters too after Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels left for the NFL. With USC Miller Moss and LSU Garrett Nussmeier as the new QBs, a lot of fans turned up for the game. In fact, the attendance even broke the record for the Super Bowl 58 game earlier this year.
The first quarter of the game hadn’t been quite eventful as far as the points were concerned. But from the second quarter, things picked up heat as Miller Moss scored the first TD for USC against LSU. From there, LSU decided to make daring moves accounting for unsportsmanlike conduct which got slammed by fans.
It’s the fourth quarter and LSU is still in the lead 17-13. But their behavior isn’t rubbing fans off the right way as they already got called out for two unsportsmanlike conduct calls. One fan wrote on X on September 2, “Scowling deeply, since we got an unsportsmanlike conduct as well as we keep almost fumbling the damn ball. I’m over this game, we keep getting flags.”

LSU celebrated their first TD with style, but it led to them getting called out for unsportsmanlike conduct. When Kyren Lacy secured a 19-yard TD in the second quarter, he emulated shooting a g-n at the USC defense which was immediately followed by a penalty leading LSU to kick off from 20 instead of 35. The Tigers were also called for another conduct call when LSU safety Jardin Gilbert got a 15-yard penalty for targeting. Fans aren’t blind to these mistakes as they spark outrage at their lack of discipline.

Fans blast LSU’s lack of field discipline
One person who is keen on finding out what’s going on expressed his frustration. He wrote on X, “Ref has called TWO unsportsmanlike conduct calls on @LSUfootball and yet the cameras haven’t shown us either. WTF?!” LSU is already falling behind the game and the lack of discipline isn’t helping them.
What’s your perspective on:
Are unsportsmanlike acts ruining the spirit of college football? USC vs. LSU was a disgrace!

Another fan chimed in with a picture of a peaceful and organized modern space. But the caption is a roast for LSU which read, “The world if LSU could stop getting Unsportsmanlike Conduct calls.” While the talent is there on the field, rowdiness is a huge turn-off for fans spectating the game which led to the ejection of Gilbert after targeting Kyron Hudson in the fourth quarter.

A fan even went to the extent of comparing unsportsmanlike conduct to targeting. They wrote, “The only penalty more egregious and subjective than targeting is unsportsmanlike conduct.” And these penalties aren’t going in favor of LSU as USC leads 27-20.
A truly withdrawn fan contributed a sarcastic opinion remark on LSU. They wrote, “LSU players try not to get an unsportsmanlike penalty challenge: impossible.” Following the game, the Tigers are undoubtedly going to get some pep talk from their coaches but this blunder of theirs is a welcome factor for the Trojans who are now the favorite to win the USC vs LSU season opener.
