The last time Coach Urban Meyer probably commented on Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion Sanders that left the fans disappointed was during the banning CBS reporter hoopla. While then, the ex-Utah Utes HC had come up with a neutral take without choosing anyone’s side, ever since then, he did not hesitate for a bit while showing his love and respect for Deion. While Coach Prime might be stripped off for being the man behind the Buffs driver’s wheel, it’s no easy job. Plus, the ex-Utes coach Meyer gets brutally honest about how in his list of metrics Deion has ticked off one factor after which the Buffs HC can no longer be questioned. Meyer was the one who pinned high hopes on Colorado, having the power to ‘shock the world.’
Deion himself once revealed he is always “judged differently.” But September 25 was no such day where the critics came up with their shallow remarks. Instead, on the Triple Option podcast with Coach Meyer, the ex-Utah mentor went gaga about Deion. Well, to him, the Buffs HC’s position is enough for people to be extra harsh towards him, “I think a lot of people misunderstand the word love.”
🔥 Coach Meyer on @DeionSanders‘ love for his players
“I think a lot of people misunderstand the word love. Love is hard, it’s not soft. I’m a fan of Prime and I get it. I think a man is measured by his children. His kids are awesome. Solid”

After all, the responsibility comes to you to season the players who are just like your kids. But the problem arises when you go too hard with parenting (read: coaching). When it comes to holding reins “Love is hard. It’s not soft,” stated Meyer. Besides, Deion has to keep on running after the players with his ‘do this’ and ‘do that.’ But again being a college football coach himself he is able to put himself in Coach Prime’s seat. After this, he couldn’t help but confess, “I’m a fan of Prime and I get it.”
More than the Buffs HC what makes Deion “a Man?” Meyer dropped a bold claim, “I think a man is measured by his children. His kids are awesome. Solid.” Being a father of 5, Deion is one lucky man to have a highly-performing roster and his players are no less than his kids to him. While Shedeur and Shilo get no special treatment from their father in Boulder when it comes to training and giving their best, the players too are treated by Coach Prime as his own kids. From scolding them for their mistakes to shower them with gifts, Deion has done it all. With this the program rose in its status leaving Meyer impressed when he shared his views just after the AP poll.
How did Deion Sanders win over Urban Meyer?
When Deion refused to talk to a reporter who bore the CBS tag, Meyer was approached for his views. But his take on the situation came off as diplomatic where he urged to find out the real deal from both Coach Prime and the news platform’s end, “You know, to me, there’s accountability on both sides of this deal.” But Meyer could no longer take the middle road and had to take Deion’s side finally.

Ahead of the Colorado Buffaloes vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers home matchup, the AP Poll dropped their rankings where the Buffs were at No.22. But the ex-Utes HC did not just go by the numbers but instead took the initiative to find it out himself. He went to attend the meetings, and the practices and came up with his thoughts on Urban’s Take with Tim May podcast.

“And I walked out and I called my colleagues at Big Noon and I said, ‘Boys, he’s going to shock the world, man. This is a good team,’” shared Meyer. Even though he denied it, he was in denial until he got his hands on the facts. But what made him go head over heels? Of course, had to be Deion Sanders and his attempt to take over a historically bad program and not only bring it back to shape but also make waves in college football.
It seems that you find the Buffs scoops interesting. NIL is one of the strengths of the program. If you want to find out more about NIL you can check on the Think Tank podcast with Dawg Sanders.
