When the Patriots fired Bill Belichick in 2024, no one expected that he would end up coaching a college football team. This was more surprising because everyone believed that the veteran may shake hands with the Chicago Bears. However, the Bears decided to go ahead with Thomas Brown as their interim coach. Now, when the Bears’ season is officially over with 12 losses, speculation is rampant again that Belichick could be one of the options for the Bears. But does Belichick’s coaching style align with the Bears’ front-office vision?

Kevin Warren, Bears CEO & President wants someone “Who is tough, who is demanding, who is bright, who has attention to detail, who seeks and will win championships, who creates an environment of accountability, who is creative, who is intelligent, who is a decisive decision maker, and who will represent the City of Chicago.” Belichick was quick to realize that the Bears top brass are unlikely to consider him and he ended up signing with the North Carolina Tar Heels football. Fast forward to Jan 2025, Bill Belichick’s departure is stirring up the pot again.

Given the high stakes involved, and the ongoing drama surrounding Belichick, it’s clear that he is anything but a lost case. Now with all the drama unfolding around Bill Belichick’s NFL move, here’s the news of  $6.4 billion worth Chicago Bears, which can be his ultimate spot after the Patriots welcome their new head coach, Mike Vrabel. Interestingly, a coach who didn’t have a single NFL team offering him a job has now become a hot topic for every other team.

So putting light into it, analyst Bill Cowher says, “I think, if you look at me, certainly, I think every situation is going to have a unique, different spin on it. I say, I’ll say this, it starts with a quarterback. I think the bears have history. I think the Bears have a quarterback. Might be the toughest division, but that’s cyclical, too. I think those things kind of work their way.”

Well, this season was kind of a bitter experience for the Chicago Bears with a disappointing 12 losses, but you can’t deny the fact that the BEars have a strong QB in Caleb. Although the Bears had a poor season, Williams had his moments, like scoring the 5th highest single-season passing yards in Bears history. So, working with such players might be a good experience for Bill Belichick, as his former team is now under Vrabel.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Bill Belichick's return to the NFL be the game-changer the Chicago Bears desperately need?

Moreover, Mike Vrabel’s no stranger to the big stage. He played linebacker under Bill Belichick from 2001 to 2008, earning 3 Super Bowl rings. Now you know why they chose him. After retiring, he coached at Ohio State before making his NFL debut with the Texans in 2014. By 2018, he was leading the Titans, where he posted a solid 54-45 record and won AP NFL Coach of the Year in 2021. Not a bad deal, right?

Also, it’s not like Bill Belichick has not done enough for the Patriots. Plus, there are still many programs that might be interested in getting Belichick into the team. Even though Tar Heels GM Mike Lombardi shot down the rumors, there are still teams keeping an eye on him. With his strong coaching history and success, a lot of people think he’s the real deal.

Well, Bill Belichick really shocked the world when he left the NFL to coach the UNC Tar Heels, just a month after making the move. With 8 Super Bowl rings and an unparalleled resume, it seemed strange that he would now be coaching college players. However, true to his character, Belichick’s silence didn’t last long. Speculation is already swirling about his potential return to the NFL, much sooner than anyone anticipated. It appears that the NFL may be calling him back after all.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero appeared on The Rich Eisen Show on January 11 and added fuel to the fire regarding Belichick’s potential return to the NFL. Eisen asked Pelissero point-blank if an NFL team could spend $10 million to buy out Belichick’s contract and bring him back to coach in the professional league this month. Teams like the Cowboys, Jaguars, and Raiders, known for their deep pockets, could easily make this happen. Who better than the GOAT himself to turn these teams around?

Pelissero’s take on the Belichick rumors? He said, “Here’s where I would start with this, Rich. I would say, you know, Mike Lombardi is a very entertaining guy. He did a publicity tour yesterday in which I believe he called my report a 100% falsehood and then followed it up by confirming virtually every detail in that report.” And he went on, saying, “There have been calls, and in fact, other outlets have also since confirmed that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick did speak about the job. So, that’s real.” With Raiders in the mix, things might take a weird turn for the Tar Heels. Seems like this story’s got enough heat to get people talking.

Additionally, with 6 head coaching positions currently open, and possibly more in the future, the NFL is facing a coaching crisis. Teams like the Raiders, Saints, Bears, and maybe even the Steelers (after their embarrassing loss to the Ravens) are desperately searching for solutions. Belichick could very well be the answer these teams need. But the big question remains: will he jump back to the NFL, or is this all just more smoke and mirrors?
