The higher you climb, the more devastating a potential fall is. That resoundingly rings true for sportspeople. How often do you see a superstar come down crashing in the twilight of their career? Not only does this phenomenon apply in the field, but it is just as much off it.
Deion Sanders was inarguably one of the greatest athletes of his generation. This inadvertently brings about very substantial wealth. However, the journey isn’t quite linear. The wealth, persona and lifestyle of athletes, or at least the ones they exhibit to the masses, can perhaps smear a sheen on the surface. Below the surface are underlying issues that often stem from money. In the case of Deion Sanders, those issues have boiled over on two separate occasions.
Coach Prime has been involved in two very public divorces at different junctures. Both involved stretched-out legal battles revolving around money and the custody of his kids. Deion came out fairly unvanquished on the other side. Hence, he wants to look out for his “kid” Travis Hunter personally if such a situation arises in his traversal through life as a future superstar with generational amounts of wealth.

In a clip which was relayed by Deion Sanders Jr. on his Well Off Media YouTube Channel, a casual conversation between his dad and Travis from their days at Jackson State surfaced. Prime makes a comment, in jest, that he thinks “Travis is married and ain’t told nobody”. After the then-teenager denied, a laughing Deion said, “I’m gonna do your prenup for you…it’s going to be about this thick”, while pointing to a stack of books. Prime Time knows a thing or two about prenups.
Since this interaction, Travis Hunter has gotten engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Leanna Lenee. The 2-way phenom has grown in stature from his Jackson State days and is the favorite for the Heisman Trophy. Things are tracking well for Travis to follow in his coach’s footsteps and become a big-ticket NFL star. Although he’d hope his path off the gridiron doesn’t converge with Prime.

The case was dismissed by the court, and the prenup was deemed legitimate. The two have since kept their distance, as evidenced by the viral video of Coach Prime’s demeanor at Colorado’s senior day celebrations. No wonder Deion wants to get Travis a prenup, as he continues to thrive with this unfortunate experience firmly in his past.
