The last moments of Virginia Tech vs. Miami Hurricanes game looked like the climax of a suspense thriller. The moment Virginia Tech’s receiver Da’Quan Felton had come down with the pigskin right before Miami’s Isaiah Horton took it away, they believed it was a touchdown. Hurray! The Hokies thought they cooked the Hurricanes and started running into the field, raising helmets after their 30-yard Hail Mary. But to their disappointment, the officials overturned it. Netizens haven’t taken kindly to the call, rightly so!

College football insider Brett McMurphy put out a poll today, asking, “What should final play of Virginia Tech-Miami been ruled?” Two options: one saying it was a touchdown and the other saying it was an incompletion. But what happens next will blow your mind. At least 20,000 people answered that poll, so guess what? 65% of them believe it was a touchdown. Well, that’s shocking! Only 35% of people still think it was an incompletion and not a touchdown. That flipped the script.

The officials, after a lengthy six-minute review, overturned the call, ruling the pass incomplete because a Miami player touched the pigskin while out of bounds. Which ultimately sealed the deal with Miami’s 38-34 victory over Virginia Tech. However, it did not go well with Virginia Tech head coach Brent Prey, who said, “To overturn it from our kids, our coaches, our fans. I hope they got it right.”

On the other hand, Miami coach Mario Cristobal was not even impressed with the kind of game they played last Friday. He called it “sloppy” and further said, “You don’t leave a game like this in the hands of the officials because you might be disappointed.” As per him, the play was not their best. Besides, let’s talk about how this game was played.

Apart from that, Miami quarterback Cam Ward came out crucial for his team, throwing 343 yards and four touchdowns. In addition to that, a standout moment of the game was when Ward connected with Xavier Restrepo, who made a tough catch lying on his back. That helped keep Miami boosted late in the game when they needed it the most.

Toward the end of the fourth quarter, the Hurricanes were trailing by 10 points. Ward threw a touchdown to cut the deficit, and with the last 2 minutes remaining in the game, Miami took the lead after Ward flipped the pigskin to Riley Williams, who made it down to the 2-yard line. Ward then threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Horton, giving them the lead with 1:57 time ticking in the game.

After this, Virginia Tech made a last push by moving the ball down to Miami’s 30-yard line in the last 3 seconds of the game, attempting a Hail Mary. Da’Quan Felton’s last-moment touchdown was initially believed to be a game-winning touchdown. However, the call was reversed later in favor of Miami. All decided at the end! What a game!
