After playing seven games in the 2024 college football season, Alabama is holding a 5-2 record. Yeah, they lost two games this season, that too against unranked Vanderbilt and No. 11 (at the time) Tennessee. Fans can’t recognize the current state of their favorite team right now. These games have even impacted Alabama’s SEC standings; they stand at a 2-2 conference record. The amount of hate Kalen DeBoer is receiving this season is insane! Not only fans, but even analysts are calling out Alabama’s pathetic performance. Now, Josh Pate has also joined the crew.

On the latest episode of Josh Pate’s college football show, Pate revealed his week 9 power ratings. Although it’s not surprising Alabama received two-digit ratings given their performance this season, coming from a big analyst just makes it even worse. He started by rating Tennessee, the team that brutally took down the Bama boys 24-17.

Tennessee is at 9. I don’t think that’s the Tennessee ceiling. So if we saw the offense click into place, if we see consistency in the passing game from Tennessee, they can be a top-five team. Tennessee is extremely dangerous if their offense and the explosion in that offense catch up with the ground game of the defense; that team can be a top-five team.”

Pate not only positioned them at 9th rank but also highlighted its potential to grab a spot among the top five teams. That says a lot! But basically, it reveals that Alabama’s loss to Tennessee was not a by-chance thing. Tennessee is indeed a strong opponent in the current scenario and far better than Alabama.

Moving forward, he referred to Alabama and said, “Bama is down to number 12, and A&M is at 13. Iowa State at 14, we’ve got Bama minus three versus Iowa State if they play today in football.” Don’t you think this season is more about underdogs taking center stage and established teams like Alabama and Texas degrading their standards? Here, Josh Pate’s ratings resemble the same emotion. Now, there’s a lot on Kalen DeBoer and his star boy Jalen Milroe’s shoulders as they enter week nine’s game against Missouri.
